Locking Old Threads (Viewing Only)

I'm pretty sure it's been brought up before but is still a no-no by the look of it. Does admin/mods or anyone else have any input on this. Personally, after a certain amount of time with no postings (time length at the discretion of admin) then a topic should become one of viewing status only unless...

Try this site. Should sort you out. Just alter the money search parameters in the top row for currency, how much and whether cash or whatever.

Re: Cars with dashcams get 5-10% discount

My insurance is up for my truck at the end of October, so shall visit the insurer (Tokyo Marine) in a couple weeks. I will obviously raise this point with them and report back to this thread with their final decision. Seems though, that the insurers are not 'over the moon' about this directive...des...

Re: GBP vs THB

If it's a hard Brexit, then it will take 5 years after the exit before the pound gets back to a decent realistic level....in other words once the important trade deals have been made. A reasonable deal with the Borg collective in Brussels will speed that up though.

Re: Govt to increase alcohol tax again

Yes Pete...probably so. If that Nation report is correct, then maybe 10 baht increase on a beer in a bar and maybe a 3-5 baht increase in shops.

Re: Govt to increase alcohol tax again

Looks like some tax ministry official has come out and said something finally. Hopefully not as bad as thought, maybe they did a quick rethink at the last minute. http://www.nationmultimedia.com/detail/breakingnews/30326861 Still a few questions though to be clarified which I'm sure will happen soon...

Re: GBP vs THB

Going to need a bit of a pound recovery with all these tax grabs and the moronic government decision making resulting in life in Thailand becoming silly expensive and difficult. As if it wasn't restrictive enough already. Very different place to what convinced me to stay when I got here. If not for ...

Re: Govt to increase alcohol tax again

It really is pathetic that the day before and today (day of implementation) nobody knows what the tax increases will be on each thing...so Thailand. Been hearing all kinds of figures like 20 baht a pack of cigarettes and 20 baht a bottle of beer and looks like wine might take a huge hit. I can imagi...

Re: Govt to increase alcohol tax again

Time to start buying those 10 liter boxes of wine from Tesco (Mont Clair) as seems the best deal around now. Beer is about to get expensive, especially if you are drinking out in town. Guess the brief visit tourist 2 week types won't care but foreign residents and the locals will.

Re: Govt to increase alcohol tax again

"Sin taxes"...how about taxing the brothels and soapy massage parlours too that are everywhere (tourist areas first!).

Nice cash grab generals.

Edit - The nanny state is making it's way over here well and truly....sadly.

Re: Thai police probe teen's claim that 40 men raped her

It is ironic that the agency responsible for Law and order be judged the most corrupt in the country.
Off topic a little, but I reckon you'll find that the local amphur land offices are way ahead of everyone on the corruption front.

Re: No way to contact admins or mods?

Lol...some of these replies are ridiculous. Admin and the moderators are pretty good at contacting people that have question/issues...or whatever you want to call them, if you actually follow the forum procedure. No reason to troll this one and btw, you might have to wait for an answer to your quest...

Re: Bicycle laws in Thailand?

Tbh, regarding riding a bike here, I'd be more concerned about not being killed by the morons on the road than the nitty-gritty of the laughable Thai law regarding bicycles as almost no-one knows them...or cares about them.

Good idea to check whether the pickup you are buying (new or 2nd hand) has a timing belt or a chain....chain much better.

Re: Thai ex-PM fails to show for verdict

All this piety and law lecturing coming from the likes of Suthep, Abhisit and PAD leaders at the moment is a bit rich.
