Re: GBP vs THB

Here's a challenge for bored people. Find a currency in the world that hasn't tanked against the baht. I can't find one but I'm not that bored. That is why the USA has put Thailand on the currency watch list as a potential currency manipulater. USD = Baht since 2008 -5.72%, worst was -8.91%, best w...

Re: Opening Thai bank account - Tourist Visa

All the banks are ok and easy enough to open an account with. I had with Ayuthya, Bangkok and Kasikorn. The one big advantage with Kasikorn is you can transfer out USD49,999 per day via the mobile phone app.

Re: Non-Immigrant Visa, OA code (1 year term) holders to require Covid insurance

The biggest concern I have is the deductable component which is huge and unless you have an exceptionally serious illness or accident you will never be able to claim. Check your deductable value. To extend my Non O-A I am now considering getting Renewal (before Sep,1 2022) The applicant must have th...

Re: Non-Immigrant Visa, OA code (1 year term) holders to require Covid insurance

Why do people get the 0-A visas when the Non-O for retirement purposes is available to those of 50yrs plus. Is it to avoid the large amount of cash that needs to be in the bank. If not then they have the medical insurance also? I think it depends on your circumstances - when I decided to move to Th...

Re: Thailand tourist slump continues

I'll post elsewhere when I see the article again and can confirm, but the Thai minimum wage is set to go to something like 496.00 Baht per day from what it is now.... 335? Quite a big jump. That may help at least a bit with the problems people are having due to Covid and inflation. This minimum wag...

Re: Non-Immigrant Visa, OA code (1 year term) holders to require Covid insurance

I arrived back in Thailand on a new O-A visa in April 2021 and had taken out the required insurance at a cost of 32,000 Baht with Tune insurance via AA brokers. Now I am preparing to extend my visa in April and inquired about insurance and the best option from AA brokers is 103,000 Baht which is cr...

I can highly recommend the following lawyer after going through 4 others with the same issue. He studied and qualified in the UK so he does not have the normal Thai approach. Mr. Chain Sirivai, 250/201, Room A204, Floor 2 G Hua Hin Resort & Mall, Soi 94 Phetkasem Road, Hua Hin, Prachuap Khirikha...

Re: Car body shop

Depending on where you live there is a very good car body shop on the right side of Pala U road going out of town opposite Hua Hin school, it is a yellow shop and is approved by insurers.

Re: Booster Vaccines - Covid 19

There are walk in Boosters at Blue port today 7 Jan 2022 and I was told this morning every day this week unless stocks run out.

Excellent service with the RTA providing support.

I was told to go to HH Hposital in 14 days to have my green card and Covid Pass updated.
