Re: Where Is There Justice In Thailand Another Tourist Bashe

Re: Mr Plum post on protecting yourself. I used to teach de-escalation/control and restraint techniques The problem with that approach is that by curling up you are presenting the assailant a football. it's a little hard to describe but the better approach is to lie on your side facing the kicks. A...

Re: Spanish speakers?

When I told it to translate from Spanish, it managed most of it: Que tal? I am Spanish & Wales. We have a villa in Hua Hin but we live in Wales. Hua Hin again in May / June. Maybe we could find when I arrive? Full marks to you for having a go. Cheeky f***ker! Nothing like being patronise...

Re: Spanish speakers?

Que tal? Yo soy Espanol/Gales. Tenemos un chalet en Hua Hin pero vivimos en Pais de Gales. Volveremos a Hua Hin en Mayo/Junio. Tal vez podriamos encontrarnos cuando llegue? My Spanish is worse than rusty as you can see and I seriously doubt that you will gain anything from speaking it with me but I ...

I heard that they are going to be used to clear the seafloor of the Gulf of Thailand of khratongs and the corpses of dead tourists that have accumulated there in recent years....

JW, your post really hits a very uncomfortable spot. It doesn't bear thinking about - a dreadful story. :(

Re: Hey you!

This thread has been a really enlightening read - possibly the best I have seen for years on this forum. Thanks to everyone who has contributed because I have learned something new from it, in particular to Roel & Bamboo Grove who have really shown the depth of their knowledge in this area of di...

Re: Six Nations 2011

I think he's got off lightly. Most of the stick has been aimed at the fly half and centres. He's just not under pressure for his place. Against France, as you say, there were simply not enough numbers at the ruck and we got found out but we had slow ball all the way through the championship. The thi...

Re: Six Nations 2011

Wales..... PLEASE for the love of God change your bl**dy tactics!! :banghead: :banghead: And the scrum half! It was no coincidence that we started to get some decent quick ball in the second half when Peel came on. Phillips fits the style that Gatland wants Wales to play but not the style that Wale...

Re: Beach cafe restaurant soi 75/1

A few days ago, we wanted to Beach Cafe. We drove (by car) into the soi where the sign Beach Cafe was, but it was impossible to park there. What is the best place to park our car? If you look at the aerial view helpfully posted by farang further up this thread, you can see that there is a patch of ...

Isn't the Thai word for condom; 'meechai' coined after him? Remember reading about him in a guide book all those years ago before my first trip to Thailand. Ah....happy days!

Re: Where not to rent a house

With regard to the flooding in Soi 102, be aware that the flooding only happens in the low lying area just beyond the railway tracks. It is a very long Soi and the properties at the top end have not flooded in the 6 years that our house has been built, whereas the lower end of the Soi seems to flood...

Re: Six Nations 2011

Before the previous round of games I was thinking that England would beat France, that Ireland would beat Scotland and that Wales would stuff Italy (which obviously never transpired but a win is a win). I had it in my mind then that England would slip up against either Scotland or Ireland and that W...
