I agree to a point Richard, but it's not an attitude to be encouraged. I have many Thai friends who have similar frustrations (although different subjects) about their own country. When you find so many Thais that are in agreement with you (and we're not talking Kreng Jai here) then I feel it's wort...

Glad to hear of all the good stories. However, each year I always have problems. When I went to renew a marriage visa early this year, although I had the requisite 400,000 baht in the bank transferred from Europe, I was told out of the blue that I had to have 40,000 per month AS WELL as the 400,000....

Sure, like the bar area will be zoned (3 years ago and they're building a new bar next to the temple wall across from JW's( recently refurbished)) and the restaurants on the beach side of the front road are going to be pulled down to open the beach (2 years ago). TIT Go to the municipality building ...

Shrinkwrapping the assembled product as in the west would achieve the same smile from a wife and remove the heartache, handache, cuts and bruises and the headache from the husband.

Shrinkwrap - is it a new religion?

Why is it in Thailand that almost anything you buy with more than two parts that are assembled together are done so with the shrinkwrap on the individual parts? Furniture is one of the most common. I've just spent the afternoon with my toolbox dismantling a dressing table in order to get the shrinkw...

I'm sure everyone knows that there are no controls in Thailand for any tradesmen. A 'plumber' who didn't get any work yesterday can decide to be an 'electrician' today. Until it's realised that people need to be qualified then nothing will change.

Bearhug, your post seems almost racist within your own race!! I wonder what your real feelings are. You seem to imply that Farangs (and their wealth) are responsible for the 'low class' sex workers. I'm sure you know that the sex industry within the Thai population is huge and if the Farangs pulled ...

To give the OP the benefit of the doubt when supposedly 'driving the wrong way'. The permanent sign by the Hilton used to be a no entry sign but was changed some months ago and states quite clearly in Thai and English that CARS are prohibited. Not anything about other forms of transport. There is a ...

Sorry Dawn,

I was very much passing on what I understood my wife to be telling me. It's now been reported in the Bangkok Post which is in a language I can read and understand.

My wife after listening to the news yesterday and reading the above thread pointed out that these two girls (according to the police) were killed from a typical motorcycle hit. Although that doesn't rule out a farang, the long strides etc is rumour.

Hi Vital Spark, I hope you don't think I was insinuating that there was racism involved. That would be for another thread. I was merely stating a fact that there's no such thing as a 100% Thai as there is no such thing as a 100% English guy. The people here are all of mixed blood even if that takes ...
