Re: Noise Polution
I concur with Dannie Boy - SSS Windows replaced the four French windows and 10 windows at my place around a year ago and it really has been a huge improvement. The house looks so much nicer and, more importantly to me, I sleep through just about everything going on outside.

Re: Hi all, Ian new member here
Hi Ian, and welcome! This site is a brilliant place to find out loads of stuff - I’ve used it myself for so many things and it’s made my life a load easier since moving to Hua Hin full time (from Hong Kong) in 2015. Hope you find somewhere to suit and you’ll enjoy your new life here.

Re: Car dash cam problem
I bought my mount at a stall on 3rd floor Market Village, early last year I think (sorry, can’t remember the exact stall) and it was cheap, the girl not only offered to check my car in the car park to ensure I got the right one, she also said she'd fit it for me. As an aside, Bluesky here was really...

New Immigration office opening hours?
Sorry if the info's already been posted here and I’ve missed it in my search, but would someone mind confirming, or otherwise, what time the new office opens for business Mondays to Fridays? I'm seeing a 10.00 start but I seem to remember the old office opening at 08.00 or 08.30 (?) and just want to...

Re: Carrying your passport?
When I remember to, I take a photo on my phone of the photo page in my passport, latest extension stamp and my latest entry stamp page. To be honest I’ve yet to be asked to show my passport so I don’t know if photos on phones would suffice, but photos are much easier than photocopies, laminating etc...

Re: Parcels sent to Thailand
Handdrummer, I’m going to the UK maybe next month and certainly in June, and can bring you back supplements if you haven’t managed to source alternative stock in the meantime. I buy my high dose calcium/D3 tablets from a local pharmacy there, probiotic multivitamins from Boots the Chemist, and I ord...

Re: Trusted Real Estate agent recommendation
I concur with other posters about JW. I don’t know him personally, and I don’t imagine for one moment he would recognise me if he ever saw me again, but he was recommended to us circa 2009/2010 and showed us several properties. As it happened, the houses/locations he had on his books weren't quite r...

Re: Double glazing in Thailand
For what it’s worth I’ll add my bit: I've very recently had all windows replaced and I’m pleased I went for double-glazing as noise levels have reduced considerably. Since installation I barely hear two-strokes on the main road, or those irritating birds that squawk loudly over the garden during the...

Re: Indian food ingredients
I think I’ve seen jars in Villa Market, but to be honest if you have time results are much better and waaaaay cheaper if you make your own sauces, and I’ve found most of the basics in Makro for quite a few Indian, Bengali, Sri Lankan etc. dishes. (But still looking for fresh bay leaves, and I have a...

Re: Window cleaning service
Because if I knew how to do it properly I could have taught them how to do it, or I'd do it myself.
But, like the maids, I don’t. Hence my question on this usually helpful forum.

Window cleaning service
I know this sounds hideously first-world picky, but otherwise-wonderful house maids haven’t ever quite got the hang of cleaning windows properly. So for me an ideal scenario would be a monthly service, with someone using one of those hynoptically-efficient blade thingies with their colleague followi...

Silence? Oh the irony, As well as the ‘clip-clop’ of goats’ hooves clattering over his bridge, I’m also hearing another four-letter word beginning with C...

Re: Hua Hin Food Trivia
This very basic Pembrokeshire Faggots recipe from a Welsh cookbook uses all liver, but I found it way too livery so I made it another time with a 50:50 liver/minced pork mix. Much better, and dead easy. This has reminded me: I don’t think I’ve seen dried suet in shops here - has anyone else? I’m nea...

Re: How not to get sick on holiday in Thailand
oakdale160, I understood the current food safety thinking is not to wash raw chicken.
Also I find that chain breast meat, even if only initially zapped in a microwave oven, tends to go rubbery. (I’m seeing Benny Hill say that now.)
