Re: Photo Trip Report: Japan in a Van

So many things seem to be cheaper than in Thailand but I assume the living costs; rent, electricity, water etc. must be more expensive with the limited space they have. Do you have any idea how much the rentals are, for example for one bedroom apartment in the cities you visited?

Re: Photo Trip Report: Japan in a Van

I remembered that there was a big Buddha Statue in Nara park. Maybe I just can't remember correctly. I was there in the spring of 1988.

Re: Macau

What causes the black sand.
I wouldn't have had an idea but the all wise wikipedia tells this:
The dark colour comes from the minerals in the water which is lighter than other volcanic beaches like those in Hawaii.

Re: Macau

Friday was a school picnic day and we visited the Panda Park, almost just opposite the school. Plenty of other schools there as well, looks like it was a general school picnic day in Macau. Panda park.jpg There were also other animals, like red pandas. Red Panda.jpg After the school day I went to th...

Re: Sports and corruption

I think, in many American sports they have this very sensible thing called salary cap. This would be a very good thing in football as well and would solve many problems and also lower the ticket prices.

Re: Premier League 2023-24

Seen elsewhere, don't know if this is true but, there's something in it. Much more serious than the Everton case. Details of the Premier League Rules that Man City is alleged to have breached are as follows: 1. In respect of each of Seasons 2009/10 to 2017/18 inclusive, the Premier League Rules appl...

Sports and corruption

I was answering to a topic in Premier league and got distracted to another sport. So I thought, maybe another topic, where we can discuss any sport and the money involved in that particular sport and all the others as well. It can be football, F1, ice-hockey, basketball or whatever. My first comment...

Re: Premier League 2023-24

But then again, it's not the football only (I know, this sort of belongs to another thread) but I'm slowly losing my interest in F1 where the payments and corruption are very much at the same level. The difference between football and F1 is that I've supported two football teams since my pre-teens b...

Re: Premier League 2023-24

Let's hope all teams that deserve the punishment, will get punished. Even if that meant the team I've supported for more than 50 years would be one of them. It's getting more and more ridiculous with all that money involved. But if only those who don't have the backing of the very rich will get puni...

Re: Agoda hotel descriptions warning

Thanks to BigBoy's comment on another thread, I tried the google search for hotels. I'm going to Guangzhou on 9th of December to meet an old friend there. I've checked many websites for the prices and although the google one gave me the prices of the same websites and they were not that much differe...

The plan is to visit Kunming, Dali and Lijiang and if there's enough time Jinghong. I will start to make reservations this coming week.

Re: Macau

There were jade parts in some of the gifts but as we were with restless kids, I didn't have time to read all the inscriptions. Macau is ok, particularly I'm happy with my salary and the cost of drinks and food in the shops. Drinking in bars is expensive here but 2 litres of beer can be bought for ar...

Re: Macau

Yesterday the school had a trip to Handover gifts museum, Handover meaning Macau moving back to be part of China from Portugal in 1999. Today Museum of Arts. The statue of Guan Yin is standing nearby the museums.

Re: Agoda hotel descriptions warning

I've used both Booking and Trip. In my experience, Booking is good for Europe and Trip for Asia. Just from my experience.
