I’ve no idea how much I consume in absolute numbers, but I expect quite a lot. I tend to stick to either chang or singha, and I drink at a steady pace throughout the evening. During the first two hours I still have the ability to control motor vehicles, and have even been known to get home by bicy...

With respect to the location of ATMs:

if you look at the bar map, at the southern end of Poolsuk rd. on the corner where the city beach hotel is marked, and on the opposite side of the road, you will find a fair selection of ATMs, at least one of these will normally accept a UK bank card.

When I was working down in Indonesia, there were regular outbreaks of dengue fever. One of my expat friends from England caught it and was in hospital for about a week, he said it was very unpleasant. The locals I worked with all use to tell me that it was the big mosquitoes, with black and white st...

Hi Digger, actually no, I have’nt been to see a solicitor recently in the UK, it was in the early 90’s. What happened was that I split up with an English girl that I had lived with for about three years. About a year after this she decided to take me to court for half the value of the house that...

I have just read this on the net so I’m only assuming its true, apparently Hodgsons Bow Brewery in east London started exporting a pale ale to India in 1750, a trade which grew to 9000 barrels by 1800. Bass, Allsops and Salts breweries all claim to be the first to have replicated this style of bee...

You are dead right about IPA being brewed for Brits by Brits, it was first brewed at the request of the British East Indian company, who had a remit for all trade, pretty much to the east of Suez. The first were probably brewed in Burton and quaffed by squadies in India, as you say. I cant think tha...

I guess for real ale fans in hot countries is what you need is an old style India Pale Ale, they were brewed for transport to the east indies after all. I know most IPAs are just light bitters now, but Freeminers in Gloucester still brew one the original way, called Trafalgar, I don’t know if anyb...

I know it would never be classed as a real ale in England, but Eddies Irish Pub normally has cans of John Smiths in the fridge.
I agree on the German beers, Erdinger is a fine beer, a few years ago I was at the beer festival in Erding ( its just near Munich airport) I had a fine time!

If you think you are having problems on the driving range, just remember this, One time in Jakarta I managed to miss the whole driving range, all those acres of grass and hundreds of feet of nets, and I missed it all! I sliced the ball off the top deck at such an angle, it missed the start of the ne...

One time when I was up in the villiage in Buriram I was working my way through a plate of Beetles, to keep the locals happy. This old guy came over and I offered him the plate, he ate a couple of them and said " ah, very good,............ from buffalo shit " which put a different aspect to...
