Re: New SUV

Well so many responses which certainly gives me plenty to think about, I use a Land Cruiser Prado and V8 diesel Land Cruiser B6 Armoured over seas and they are both fantastic. Both old tech especially the V8 but damn they will go anywhere and never fail. Just crazy prices here in Thailand If only Th...

JW, If I may ask what health insurance do you have and with which company, I have company insurance but that will end soon and my last health insurance through a European provider was US$2,300 a year with no out of hospital cover.

New SUV

Looking to purchase a new SUV and wife can't find any English brochures. Looking at Honda CRV Isuzu MUX Toyota Fortuner In my opinion, Honda is the most high tech but read some reviews with stories of rumbling drive shafts on new models. Isuzu MUX no experience, but wife likes Toyota, well I have lo...

Re: Recommend an offshore bank account

Steve, I agree with what you say, however I have been UK none resident for tax purposes since 1982, banked offshore ever since. A while back I received a letter to my Thai address even though I had never provided this to HMRO, the letter requested me to provide details of where I had worked since 19...

Re: Recommend an offshore bank account

It is extremely difficult to open a new offshore account these days and one really has to consider if there are any benefits. For me the only reason was so that my savings do not come under the watchful eye of any taxation office. I'm with Lloyds who used to the TSB and have to be one of the worst o...

Re: Hua Hin weighed down by oversupply of condos and houses

Re bulk buying of condo's, I know a very successful Thai business man who actually lives in the UK 90% of the year. He recently purchased 22 condo's in a new development here and received a whopping 41% discount of normal retail price. He advised the developer is struggling to sell and hence running...

Re: Tour recomendations

Take a look at Lonely Planet guide for Chiang Mai, they have some really good info, don't rely on their hotel recommendations as they are way out of date. Very easy to find good hotel deals on the likes of Agoda remember CM is a long way from HH or BKK so you need plenty of time to visit that area h...

Re: Thailand tourist slump continues

I have also found that hotels seem to be 100% booked up, we planned to go to Patts for a few days and all the hotels we had stayed in the past were full. We looked at some other areas and also full so I do not really see a down turn in tourism at the moment, after all it is Christmas
