Re: Is there a tourist slump in Hua Hin/Thailand?
Tend to agree Billy 70. Prices in Australia are through the roof and lifestyle not so great - ie, work long hours, get taxed high, etc. But I've rented out my unit and can live comfortably and peacefully here in Hua Hin. I think more and more foreigners will look at Hua Hin as a great alternative

Re: Restaurant Phillipe
[quote="Tunafish"]The menu looks great, many interesting dishes, but the whole ambience is destroyed by so many people smoking, the proprietor is obviously not aware of the laws pertaining to smoking in restaurants. There is no such thing as 'no smkoing laws' for restaurants in Thailand, i...

Only Evian has a discernible difference for me - just seems to be crisper and more pure on the tastebuds

It seems only the junk food multinationals can afford the rent in most shopping malls and weather any down turns.

Re: Hua Hin railway crossings
Sorry didn't mean to cause a ruckus, was just putting forward a view. People take death and life too seriously. We are but a speck in the universe and yet we worry whether someone decides to run a railway crossing and make it our business?

Point taken Terry regarding the effects on the driver and victim's family. I just dispise the saftey-first attitude that some seem to be pressing - its why I escaped the Nanny state in Australia

That would be their business - we don't have the right to tell people what level of risk they should take in their lives

Totally agree Gregjam - no point changing the place for the well meaning but whining falang. It is what it is and we should be grateful for the lack of overzealous stupidty that exists in the west. Lets just enjoy the ride

Re: Improving Hua Hin.
I don't think there's any point in asking for regulations regarding safety, infrastructure and development, otherwise it will just turn into any Western style town. We left behind our places of birth to have a carefree life, without all that regulation and the expense that goes with it

Re: Sports Villa contacts?
Thanks bsdk1960,
I understood that the private owners' condos include use of the second pool, which is alot less busy. If renting long term through Sports Villa direct, you need to pay extra for use of both pools?
Any clarifactions or contacts would be most welcome

Sports Villa contacts?
Hi all,
I'm a newbie who'll be moving to Hua Hin in June to study on an ED Visa.
Could anyone suggest any private condo owners at Sports Villa that rent out. I'm aware of Adrian Evans but any others that you could recommend?
Cheers
Damien
