Maybe Mr T thinks that people don't use their phones as much when they could be out buying booze? :D It's quite ironic really that the UK had stricter opening hours for decades and yet Brits abroad were renowned for being lager louts, as well as under age drinking being rife (well it was when I was ...

Thanks a lot mate, although it does seem that Magnus gets more of the flak than me for some reason :? Funnily enough the teams that you would expect to have the most problem understanding the rules would be the Thai ones such as Rose Bar or Octopussy but they have really been a joy in their approach...

The issue of the standard of equipment, both the tables themselves and other things like cues & balls, was discussed at a pre-season meeting, raised by myself as i know it is of concern to some, but the people present at the meeting agreed that you couldn't impose a standard for entry to the lea...

Pool League page in HHAD (finally!)

Ok, I have at last got round to making and sending this to our beloved host  and you can all see the latest tables at http://huahinafterdark.com/hua-hin-pool-league.htm although this will only be updated about once a month due to time pressures. Expect lots of changes by next month

Apologies for not having made the webpage yet to anyone who was waiting - it will be done soon! In the meantime the sports page of the Observer magazine website http://www.observergroup.net/sports.htm has the tables updated once a month (although they are a little hard to read). Of course for those ...

Hi BG, We had a meeting to discuss various things, and although I didn't put it in fully in my original post, the 4 player thing is not going to change the number of games-we are still going to play 6 singles and 3 doubles. Also if a team has only 4 players, each player must play at least 1 singles ...

I would agree cyber, and from reading the thread on thaivisa.com it seems that it is only Mae Sai enforcing an old rule; whether as a ruse to reduce their workload, to discourage the 30 dayers, or to extract some sort of unofficial tax, who knows. I would guess that it will be a short term thing, an...

A bit slow on the forum from me but RIP Johnny. I'm proud to say I saw the Ramones in 1979 at The Rainbow in North London, and it was quite simply the loudest, fastest and most exhilerating gig I ever went to. The seats were destroyed, the press in the pit were covered in phlegm and pounded with the...

Assuming the schedule/timetable is the same for every flight, and it hasn't changed, then the LGW-BKK flight takes 10 hours 55 minutes, and is completely non-stop. The BKK-LGW flight takes 15 hours and has the stop in Dubai, so an extra 3 hours and 5 minutes. I assume this is because of prevailing w...

I'd imagine that it is open until 10pm in the high season, but i'd agree they could have been a little more thoughtful in their response! Having said that, T.I.T and how many establishments over here could ever be called 'professional'? :) I have been there several times (but not at night) and found...

Sorry for the slow response to this (hope it's not too late for you, but it may be of interest to others)-I flew with Phuket Air, leaving Bangkok early August, returning early September. Overall, it was very cheap (about 20,000 baht return) so I didn't expect much, and the flight to London (which in...

Pool League

Hi! Some of you may know about the Hua Hin Pool League, which has been run very well by Osmo (aka Bamboo Grove) in the last couple of years, along with various helpers from time to time. He is now in the process of departing Hua Hin for pastures new, and, with the approval of others, has handed over...

I don't know if there are any crossed wires here but as far as I know the income or savings in a Thai bank requirements are only relevant if you wish to stay in the country without having to go out every 3 months. This may depend on the basis of your visa however, but I wasn't aware that it was. I h...
