Re: Hua Hin Golf Festival 2023

Sorry, I just don't get why people are so against C course at SF. Sure, it's difficult. I played it today and thought it was in decent condition. OK, the greens are still cored but, for me, they were a consistent speed. I love C course but it can bring me to me knees sometimes. I think you've answe...

Re: Baht falling, which is best currency to transfer in, USD or GBP?

Just for information, GBP is close to its 5 year high in August 2021, the USD is still way off its 5 year high in Oct 2022. As I have both GBP and USD I'll probably remit inwards in Sterling for the time being, as psychologically I'd feel I'm getting better value 'historically' although I'm not sur...

Re: Hua Hin Golf Festival 2023

Also until Sept 1st I would swerve Springfield - you will have to play the dreaded C course which is horrible - from Sept 1st you get to play on A and B again. Are you quite sure on those dates for A course please? I was told mid October by the caddie master 3 weeks ago Good news if you're right Th...

Re: Thailand tourism situation

The absence of Chinese tourists affects many Countries, including the UK. A couple of weeks back, The Times ran an article about it (no link, sorry). That has to be a good thing right? No more spitting in the street or eating like they're the only ones in the restaurants! The markets are pricing in...

Unless you have a serious crisps addiction I don't see the interest. Utterly crap food, dead behind the eyes staff, shockingly poor quality. 7-11 et al, or more accurately it's owners are a Thai curse. Probably also why thais are getting fatter and fatter. Do you take yourself seriously...seriously...

I think just phone the clubs up - you'll get the same or better price plus less chance of a tee time mix up

Re: A good investment for Thai Baht?

Can you invest back in the UK? Yep - Bonds now paying 6%+. I wasn’t sure whether you had to be “UK Resident” to invest? It depends - if you have a SIPP set up you can simply ask the administrators to buy bonds. Having said that if you have access to a UK address you can anyway - I read of one compa...

The old wives tale referred to it being illegal for meters to go back.

Re: Solar power setup for your home in Thailand

The Thai government (which controls the electricity monopoly) does not allow excess power to be fed back, it is illegal here to make your meter go backwards! No it's not . They'll even pay you for it though you have to jump through a few hoops to get there. This is frequently spouted by project own...

Re: Solar power setup for your home in Thailand

Certain developpments in HH do not allow resident solar power owners to resell or re inject excess power in the general grid of the developpment. How can they stop you? (unless they switch you from analogue meter to digital but that costs money and project offices don't like spending money). They w...

Govt blames cost for new payout rules on pensions Social Development and Human Security (SDHS) Minister Juti Krairiksh told the meeting that if the old criteria were not revised, the government would have to shoulder costs of up to 100 billion baht a year from 2025, not to mention other expenses in...

Re: A good investment for Thai Baht?

Another option for investment is property with a guaranteed return. I've looked at the Carapace development on Khao Tao beach. They have studio apartments at 3.1M baht with a 5% return guaranteed for five years. The project is complete and operates also as a hotel managed by Best Western. The retur...
