Re: Constant noise pollution
I guess its a balancing act. As huahin4ever said, I hate the total silence back home and lack of activity but here the Thais just seem to enjoy making as much noise as possible

Re: Train derailed near Soi 112
Don't understand why hey don't put automatic gates which shut down when trains coming through rather than the train honking their horn. Probably $ as usual. Great pics James. Perhaps a new job in journalism is in the waiting?

Re: Constant noise pollution
No not wanting to fight it and accept it but just my rant for the day.Just renting here so no biggie. Another I just thought of. The 8am megaphone with the national anthem after a night out on the town.

Re: Constant noise pollution
HH its just just the constant barrage of noise that gets to me. Maybe I'm I sensitive to it or are the others deaf to it?

Constant noise pollution
Ok this could apply generally in Thailand but here are my noise pollution turn offs in Hua Hin. The old diesel trains that rattle along, honking their horns all the way along Hua Hin and wake me up at least 2 or 3 times a night. The constant pick up trucks that go past blaring some new opening or ev...

Re: A lot of BIG Jellyfish at the moment
Juice81, don't be put off by the above, it's a bit melodramatic. The beach will be cleaned up in a day or two if not already and the foam is definitely not 'toxic', just doesn't look too nice. Edit : It didn't stop many Thais enjoying themselves on the beach and in the water around 5 pm last night....

There isn't a touch of class in soi 80. Mind you I don't mind a tipple in Saloon 80 Bar and the new Red Dragon Bar

Re: A lot of BIG Jellyfish at the moment
Yesterday was the worst I have seen the beach. Besides jellyfish, there were tonnes of rubbish being washed ashore. From plastic to hair clips, from kids toys to even a shoe. The beach really has become a disaster. And there is some toxic yellow foam that I have seen for years. Does anyone know what...

Re: Slow internet, slow websites in Thailand
Agree with James West,
Things have gone considerably slower in the last 4 - 5 days regardless of the time of day or night.
No idea why as normally great here on soi 104 with D-Tac. Maybe things are being slowed and highly monitored

Re: The Phuket property nightmare (Could be anywhere)
"We are a guest here - nothing more, nothing less" I hate that over used phrase. We are not guests by any stretch of the imagination. So what the what would the two fellows in this article say. They were here for ten years, had Thai wives and children but still seemed to have been treated...

Re: The Phuket property nightmare (Could be anywhere)
Stories of women stealing their husbands' riches happen the world over, but perhaps not so fraudulently. I truly feel sorry for them but some principles are required when living here. Never buy a property and always rent. Even if you rent that property for twenty years, its still cheaper than purcha...

Re: Govt bans visa runs; Thailand border check points will not stamp
You don't need a company to do a visa run. Just borrow/rent a car and drive there, enjoy the freedom and save a little. Renting/borrowing a small car in low season: 0 / ~600. Fuel: ~800. Visiting Myanmar for 5 minutes to stamp passports: 900. Freedom and fun during this trip, as opposed to minibus-...
