Re: Tax residency in Thailand and taxing overseas income
Seems to me that Thailand is just following the trend of global taxation. If you live in the UK for more than 183 days (I think that's it) then you will be liable for UK tax on all your earnings worldwide. Unless you can show that you've paid tax somewhere else. So, are the monies transferred into T...

Re: Tax residency in Thailand and taxing overseas income
Seems as clear as mud to me but going by what the "experts" say in the linked BP article, it appears to me that they're going after Thais who have a foreign income. If the new rules only apply to the three income areas mentioned, I don't see that those of us living here on annual extension...

Re: Flights to/from Thailand status, news, and updates
Just booked flights to Stansted, UK return with Emirates leaving early October for three weeks. 34,900 THB pp which I was fairly happy with.

Re: Thailand tourism situation
As an aside, I caught the 09.30 airport bus back from Swampy on Monday just gone. When I reserved my seat on the Friday before, I was the only booking. Including me, there were 9 of us on the bus. I was away a week and in that time, Hua Hin seems to have emptied. We were up and down to BKK via the ...

I said it was in decent condition. Didn't think there was much difference to B.

Re: Hua Hin Golf Festival 2023
Sorry,
I just don't get why people are so against C course at SF. Sure, it's difficult.
I played it today and thought it was in decent condition. OK, the greens are still cored but, for me, they were a consistent speed.
I love C course but it can bring me to me knees sometimes.

Re: Extra (Now less) Cash For Thai Pensioners
Why not just make sure that people pay their taxes, especially the better off? Sorry, naive. If the above was possible, then government spending could reflect the "politics" of any party - more guns and ammo for the junta boys, more "support" for the less well off for the commies...

Re: Flights to/from Thailand status, news, and updates
We're planning a trip back to the UK in October and I had a look at prices this morning.
Emirates were approx 30K THB return to Stansted.

Re: Ratchaburi - Trip/Photo Report
No, didn't realise that.
It just looks impressive from the main road and is a landmark.
I have seen those "decrepit rooms" from the road and I always thought "well, someone is happy and pumping money into something. There must be loads of monks etc"
Your photos put me straight.

Re: Ratchaburi - Trip/Photo Report
Wat Nong Hoi, I've always wondered about that temple. Occasionally, I go by it on the way to Royal Ratchaburi Golf Course which is maybe 2-3kms further east. As a sight, it is impressive but I've only used it as a landmark for the golf course and am glad I've never had the occasion to get fleeced. T...

Re: Do you have a Bucket List
Kashmir, 1981 on a houseboat on Lake Dal in Srinagar. Heaven in those days but I missed out on so much - ie the trekking up north to Leh and Ladakh because I was a lazy git. Shikaras - sort of canoes - that came by all the time. "Hey, English, you want Campa Cola, water, Mars bars, ciggies etc ...

Re: Thai passport renewal ... 10 years?
To confirm the above at Petchaburi.
An excellent service and we were in and out in about 15 mins (BB beat us by 5 mins). Passport is expected in 3-5 working days. 10 years for 1,500 THB and 40 odd THB for EMS delivery.
Why cant the UK be like that?

You shouldn't need a photo but I always take one if I've got one spare. They take your photo on a digital camera thing.
I imagine queuing isn't too bad this time of year. I went mid afternoon back in May and was in and out in about 5 mins.

Re: Thai passport renewal ... 10 years?
Edit the above. My daughter just pointed out that she didn't need her tabien baan. Just her ID and old passport. My wife needs to renew her passport soon. I assume the above info from the previous posts is still accurate? All she'll need is her current passport, ID and filled in form which she'll g...
