Re: Flights to/from Thailand Bargains & Updates

We tried to do a few days stopover in Istanbul to break the Thailand <> UK trip but found the prices from Turkish Airlines insane so didn't bother. Went direct with Eva instead for a lot less. How is Eva air? Decent flight? Do they have an onboard entertainment system? I’m flying with them Tuesday ...

Re: Traffic fines to increase in September

No mention of driving without a licence! Driving without a licence is up to one year imprisonment. Already a hefty penalty. I remember that from my theory test last week. I very much doubt anyone is jailed though. The lessor sentence of a fine maybe (can’t remember if 2,000 or 5,000thb!?). Probably...

Tsk tsk Nereus.
Delighted she got her mothers looks.
Unfortunately my skin though. Mossies will love her and she won’t last 20-mins in the sun without going a brighter shade of chompoo..

Re: Thai national coming to visit farang at home (UK)

The U.K. passport doesn't seem to be a quick option right now as I must be in Thailand and send my passport away with the application. As I'm heading away soon for a job and not back for 1-2months.. we would be running out of time. Took heed of B.B's advice and just returned from Petchaburi. Wow! I ...

Re: Army shooting range?

Yeah it must be the NCO base. Incidentally, I've only just recently noticed the NCO letters on a huge rock on the mountain above the school.

I've heard the shooting quite often recently.

Re: Thai national coming to visit farang at home (UK)

Thanks B.B.
I'm thinking it better to attack from both angles and work on the Thai passport + U.K. passport together. However a friend of mine you recently went through the process seemed to think GN-Jr would need her Thai passport first.
Cheers,
GN.

Re: Thai national coming to visit farang at home (UK)

I see the forums’ sponsor - Key Visa Thailand offer the service. If using them saves us a trip(s) to the city of anger then big +4me.

Thanks Pete.
Sorry your wee lad had to endure that. As painful for yourself too I can appreciate.
Wondering how realistic it would be to get her a British passport before Christmas...

Re: Thai national coming to visit farang at home (UK)

Mrs. GN is planning a visit to the U.K. this Christmas however she wishes to take GN-Jr. Due to working for a crappy international cooperation on an equally crappy contract; I cannot guarantee that I will make the trip... Does anyone have any experience with a Thai partner (10-year visa) travelling ...

Re: Customs clearance red channel at Suvarnabhumi

It's the same at most airports, any duty free needs to be in one of those sealed bags from an airport duty free shop to get it through transit security. As a frequent flyer, I should know better.... What I have never understood, is why some routes have security in transit and other don't - it's jus...

Re: Thai Baht hits six year high, BoT to take measures

Here's the chart: https://www.oanda.com/currency-converter/en/?from=USD&to=THB&amount=1 The Fed may bump up interest rates by a full percent, or at least 3/4 shortly. The dollar may hit 38 after that. 40 is not out of the question if you're a gambler and willing to wait. However, when thing...

Re: Customs clearance red channel at Suvarnabhumi

Any idea on the possibility of bringing a decent bottle of single malt in? I think you're allowed a liter but have been hearing reports of customs cracking down and taking stuff anyway. Wouldn't want to take the risk with a good bottle of Scotch if they are on the take more than usual. I wouldn't w...
