Re: Engineering and Science

We watch Thai news every day. They never have any Engineering and Science related things. Just Entertainment, Fashion, Farming, etc. How do kids get inspired to achieve if there are no role models? You are of course correct and there is little innovation in Thailandgenerally. I personally don't see...

Re: Hua Hin Hospital - 194M Baht Debt

Not only is the fund under funded (does that even make sense?) but the funding is focussed in the wrong areas. The LOS was pleased to announce that they now have enough trained doctors/medically trained professionals for the next 20 years, I believe. I would need to check the reports for a reference...

Re: Air con operating manual

Why not give them a call on their hotline 02 832 1999. Might be Thai only but I'm sure you can get someone local to help if this is an issue.

Re: Online Ordering - a sign of the times?

4.0 is here and hard for retailers or manufacturers to ignore. If they do ignore it they are history. Thailand is not well placed, educated or driven to accept this. Anyone who has spent any time in China recently will start to see what the future will bring. Staying at a friend's condo they had run...

Re: All car passengers now required to buckle up

On my weekly migration twixt BKK and HH, today, I must have passed more than a dozen pick-ups with passengers in the rear. Most were builders getting their transport home but a few were just normal passengers. At one stage a highway patrol car slowly passed me to make a U turn and in front of me was...

Re: Red Bull exec's kid arrested for fatal running over of cop

I must admit, I'm quite surprised the prime minister has not stepped in, even if only to try and show that HE is the one with power and that he wants everyone to be treated equally. :cuss: As the old saying goes, "He who pays the piper....." You would hope that as the international press ...

Re: Belgian businessman jumps to death from Hua Hin hotel

^^ agreed but it's not only Pattaya it's also very common in BKK and Phuket where I believe they have their own designated flight paths. This guy sadly missed the ground airbag by 3 metres. Must have been really tough for the rescue teams and those who tried to talk him down and finally failed to sa...

Condo glut weighs on project launches

Condo glut weighs on project launches http://www.bangkokpost.com/print/1225952 A surfeit of unsold condominium units in the resort towns of Cha-am and Hua Hin will continue to slow the launch of new projects this year, says property consultant Knight Frank Thailand. The agency estimates there are f...

Re: 50-year leases likely for foreigners

If ever this becomes law there will be so many strings attached it will look like the groom's wrist at a Thai wedding. Wait until full details are published. The Thai reasons for not doing it outweigh the benifits. House prices would increase and price out the Thai buyer who of course wants to own t...

Re: All car passengers now required to buckle up

I think it's a great initiative but without enforcement it means very little. It's timed to reduce the death toll at Songkran but doesn't tackle enforcement of the law regarding motorcycle helmets and the figures prove that the majority of road deaths at Songkran will be motorcyclists. I applaud the...

Re: Circular Runways

If we could spin the runway as in roulette it would really make landings and take-offs interesting. Thai airport engineers, anxious to make Thailand a hub, would probably design the helter shelter version for the final 1000m of descent. Total crackpot idea unless you live on a very small island and ...
