Re: Which Mobile Phone?
A screen replacement on my LG G3 in Market Village turned out really well. The new screen was ordered from Bangkok; seems like OEM quality and still 100% ok after one month, all for 1500 baht. A few days later, I went looking for a dumb or non-smartphone nearby. I bought a Nokia 6300 for 800 baht. I...

Re: Dress Code For Immigration
I visited Hua Hin Immigration about 2 months ago. I decided I should wear a shirt with collar to show ‘respect’, but it was a hot day and I decided on a T shirt. I should have not given it a second thought, about a third of the male customers wore singlets, some looking as though they needed a wash ...

Re: Netflix and VPN issues
A neighbour had a similar problem a while ago. The explanation went something like this: - Netflix may have updated itself (via Google Play?) to a version not compatible with your device. - Delete your Netflix app, go to Google Chrome and install an old version of Netflix app (lots of versions avail...

Re: Second hand smart phones
One argument against buying a used smartphone - the battery is probably well into the latter part of it's useful life.
Soon you may need a new battery, not easy to find and when you do probably not 'original', plus you need to get it installed.

Re: Upgrading Xiaomi smartphone
You could wait for the Redmi Note 7, not generally available in Thailand as yet? Getting a lot of good reviews. https://www.gsmarena.com/xiaomi_redmi_note_7-review-1883.php https://shopee.co.th/Redmi-Note7-64GB-i.87948031.1873563447?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIgfWA98Cy4AIVxCMrCh0QagBqEAYYASABEgKuHvD_BwE Price...

Re: Snakes in the house and garden
About 2 months ago, I was out for breakfast walking between MV and Bluport on Petchkasem Road. I came across on the pavement in front of me, a small snake about 18 inches long trying to swallow a small frog. A Thai man passed and took a long look – “King Cobra” he said. The frog was already dead, pr...

Re: Australian visa for my brother
A while ago, I took a flight from Australia to Singapore. The young German lady sitting next to me soon told me her sad story. She was being deported from Australia (back to Germany), and that there we two others like her on the flight. She said they were well treated being given single rooms overni...

Re: Hua Hin - Pattaya ferry service news and updates
One negative about the HH Pattaya bus is that sometimes goes into the airport to drop people off.
It’s a quick operation, but does this detour add much mileage to the journey time?

Re: Hua Hin Food Trivia
“Faggots and peas” were a childhood treat in Newport Market (South Wales) about 60 years ago. I remember that they were kind of ‘square shaped balls’ made from minced meat (you were served just two), and had a strong herbal taste. I think they were served without potatoes or chips, just faggots and ...

Re: How to get from Don Muang Airport (DMK) to Hua Hin
A few more points: • https://www.transitbangkok.com/lines/bangkok-bus-line/A1 Scrolling down the page gives the stops on shuttle bus route. • A taxi cost of 1,500 is quoted above. I can never get price lower than 2,200 for Bangkok to Hua Hin? As for Hua Hin to Bangkok, 1,600 is the price? • “Sombat ...

Army’s sleeping technique
Army’s sleeping technique that will get you to sleep in two minutes. So how does the technique work? Relax the muscles in your face, including your tongue, jaw and the muscles around your eyes. Drop your shoulders as low as they’ll go before relaxing your upper and lower arm on one side, and then th...

Re: How to get from Don Muang Airport (DMK) to Hua Hin
Don’t need to take a taxi from DMK to bus station Mochit 2. There is a shuttle bus (A1) running from DMK Gate 6 to Mochit 2. BTW, same shuttle bus runs to Mochit BTS (formerly Mochit 1??). Good to know if you want to stay in Bangkok. Can take luggage on shuttle bus no problem. Thanks u, I will find...

Re: How to get from Don Muang Airport (DMK) to Hua Hin
Taxi to Mochit and minibus to Hua Hin: I have done this about 3 times. When the taxi arrives at Mochit ( known as Mochit 2 ), need to walk about 200 metres through a large open bus station to find the stand for Hua Hin. Usually wait about 20 minutes for minibus to fill. Your luggage needs to fit on...
