Re: Hua Hin and Thailand bomb attacks
Huge car bomb in Pattani (near Hat Yai). The reports say it was aimed at Western Tourists staying at Southern Hotel. Initial reports are that one person was killed, 5 critically injured and 29 injured. There were two bombs, one at the back of the hotel which didn't kill or injure anyone, however the...

Re: Hua Hin and Thailand bomb attacks
Just been downtown and was encouraged to see Police with sniffer dogs doing the rounds and importantly doing it properly. They were going into shops and letting the dogs have a good sniff around. Unfortunately the local police still seem to think that riding their motor bikes around the block a few ...

Re: Foreign pedestrian killed in road accident outside market village
Despite many cryptic contents the new security guard prescence appeared to be working well. However, today, Saturday, the security guard crossing attendant is gone and the free for all of crossing the road at MV is back on again.

Re: Thai Navy to buy three Chinese submarines
Apart from being a very flawed decision on technical grounds it is very flawed on any strategic measure.

Re: Thai Navy to buy three Chinese submarines
Having some experience and knowledge in this area. The Thais have bought low tech subs, not much use in the Asia Pacific region where a significant number of countries have bought very high tech French and German submarines.
A dud buy!

Re: Airport VIP Bus to and from Hua Hin
Just off the Airport bus from Hua Hin to Airport. Took a shade under 4 hours following a 7.30 am departure. It was appalling! The Thai hostess, or whatever she was, barked at passengers on boarding, she knew only one word 'seatbelt' and that was the extant of any meaningful interaction. She was plai...

Re: 3BB upgrade
I had our 3BB system upgraded from 10 to 18 within half a day. New router from the same shop. I had enormous difficulties watching ExpatTV etc, however, the upgraded system has done the trick. Had the same experience at MV, I think they were trying to be helpful, at least the young guy was, however,...

Coffee in Hua Hin
Starbucks coffee is ok but hopelessly overpriced for Thailand, it is even more expensive than Australia but for some inexplicable reason it remains the coffee of choice. Today by sheer chance I discovered a great coffee shop downstairs at MV. It was the best coffee I have had in ages, certainly the ...

Re: [ADVERTORIAL] Thai Expat TV
Have solved the problem by having 3BB upgrade the service from 10 to 18. Huge difference and can now watch both ExpatTV channels most of the time.

Re: Time of day for easiest journey BKK/HH (also back)?
Best advice is to check that you are not travelling on a public holiday, especially returning to BKK on the last day of any holiday. A 3 hour journey can turn into a 6 plus hour crawl.

Re: [ADVERTORIAL] Thai Expat TV
Many thanks everyone for your replies. I at least know that others are having similar problems.
Never for a moment thought it had anything to do with Expat TV, always thought it was the 3BB system.

Re: [ADVERTORIAL] Thai Expat TV
I have both Expat web and Premium. Both are excellent and make me a very happy camper. I play both through my IPad to our Smart TV using a connection that I bought from a Apple shop in Australia. It plays perfectly during the day, however, come 7.30pm every night it starts to freeze, It plays for 1 ...

Re: Shopping Malls in Hua Hin
On reflection and listening to what others have said I think you are all probably right. The target market will be those staying at the Intercontinental which is linked to the Bluport Mall. If they can afford to stay there then there is high probability of them desiring and affording luxury items. C...

Re: Shopping Malls in Hua Hin
Noticed yesterday a large sign draped over one side of the frontage that Blue Port will open on October 1. Cannot for the life of me see how it will be sustainable in the long term. Sure it will be busy at first but Thais paying western prices for luxury goods doesn't equate. Shopping Malls need hug...
