Re: Visa 90 day report

PS: if you leave Thailand, even for a moment, on your OA visa or an annual extension, you need a re-entry permit from Imm (cost 1,000 for single or 3,800 for multiple) or you'll lose your permitted to stay stamp, re-enter only getting 15 or 30 days and have to start at square one again. Just to be ...

Re: Vegemite

Bought some because I could see that white rice wasn't giving me much in the way of B vitamins. Didn't take long before I thought of buttered toast without Vegemite as a missed opportunity for something better. ... that stuff tastes like chemical waste, or what I think chemical waste would taste lik...

Re: TV mini-series/HBO

I tried to download the first episode of The Wire twice using two different download sources and different source copies. Both were straight .AVI files (over 300mb) and took about an hour each to download onto my Windows 7 netbook. Both play very good quality video, but with no audio. I only have w...

Re: TV mini-series/HBO

Dexter http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0773262/ My rating: 9 The following is from a review I agree with. It's of the novel, but fits the show as well: It's been years since there's been a thriller debut as original as this one by Lindsay, who takes a tired subgenre-the serial-killer novel-and makes it ...

Sat down to play, then a reminder alarm on my cell phone went off. WTF? An hour had simply evaporated. Is there a 12 step program for this game?

Re: Health Insurance

I use BUPA they are comparable with others. I know many expats who will not pay for health insurance - thats up to them until you get knocked off your motorbike of have a heart attack The policies I looked at explicitly excluded coverage for motorcycle accidents. Any there any that do cover moto re...

Re: Opinions, Kanchaburi As An Alternative Place To Live....

Looked at Kanchaburi last year because my closest childhood friend lives there with his Thai wife. Majority of ESL forum posts about quality of life there are positive, except for the heat. According to one climate site it's the second hottest place in Thailand for which there are accurate records: ...

Re: Books

Homer you have set yourself up against Sheldon H.Harris - Emeritus Professor of History, California State, University, Northridge. ... Homer vs Harris = you loose . Dr. Harris earned a masters from Harvard and a doctorate from Colombia, then inexplicably fell about as far as one could academically,...

Re: Books

Not that this is an argument thread, but what the hell....you pressed the f*cking button. If theres one thing I cant f*cking stand its history revisionists and apologists for inhuman scumbags. One of the things I hate is when somebody goes off on a baseless rant against the US of A. Words have spec...

Re: Books

Makes for grim reading, although the real sickening part is the US cover up of their activities in return for the results of their "experiments". It bugs me when people use the wrong word or phrase. The experiments were not covered up, they were classified. The cold war started before WW2...

Nice photos and cultural anthropology. Near as I can understand it, the natives drink until they do one or all of the following: - drop food on the ground - eat food from the ground - puke on the ground - piss on the ground - sit on the ground - fall to the ground - hump on the ground - beat someone...

Re: LOS vs Vietnam

I've been planning a trip to Vietnam. Some of the comments in the linked article are at odds with what I've read, what friends who have been there say and common sense. >Vietnam also benefits from being a relatively small country, so travelling from one place to another is easy and inexpensive. Re: The new Bangkok Hospital in Hua Hin

Was it incompetence, deceit or unbelievably bad record keeping? Last week I stopped at BHHH reception to ask a question. Was holding a paper with my patient number and the name of the doc I'd seen 3 times. Person behind the counter read the paper and said the doc was no longer in HH. I continued wit...
