I would be interested to know what Guess considers as being a 'pure Thai'. Thais are a little like the English in that they are a bastardised race with origins elsewhere. 'Pure Thais' were extinct long before the current settlers.
The Thai race has roots in Indo-China, Burma etc...

Sargeant, you are a true Thai. I've lived here for just over 5 years but have been coming back and forth for the last 40. Most Thais have grown up with a sense of great pride. This pride is often interpreted as arrogance. The analogy of a taxi driver giving advice to a top brain surgeon as to his ne...

Love the pic Big Boy. Not in Thailand I believe. Even if the locals wore them back to front but with the strap done up it would be better than now. I wonder how many drivers have had accidents in the process of taking their helmet out of the basket to place it on their head and vice versa. It beggar...

Visited the PG website and what a breath of fresh air it was. Straight questions were being answered sensibly and in some cases actually being acted upon. Would love to see that work in HH. I agree with you Farang. As for Wanderlust, for your info, from what I've found out about the new Mirror, it i...

Okay guys, my last word on this (I hope). Thanks for the advice Jockey. After talking to you today, it seems that it might have a chance. I will write, in the right tone, apologetic for asking the questions. It can't do any harm. To Jimmy, I agree with what you say in principle. Long before Market V...

Just a funny story and to show how ignorant I am. I picked up some friends at Don Muang and was stopped as I left the airport. I assumed it was because my tax sticker wasn't on the window. I had one but it kept falling off. No that wasn't the reason. I was stopped because me and my passenger was SMO...

I'd like to recommend 'Pandintong' restaurant to anyone visiting. Most of the expats who live here frequent the place a lot. It's run by a farang, Dave, and both the Thai food and Western food is excellent which allows you to bring groups with mixed tastes. The prices are unbelievably cheap and it'l...

I was sitting at 'The Boat' having a quiet drink when a 20 something gorgeous blonde farang walked by wearing only a bikini. Far away from the beach. All conversation stopped and 15 pairs of eyes followed her until she was out of sight. Once she'd gone the conversation was about how disgusting that ...

Sorry Winkie, but with that clever attitude, one day, you're gonna arrive DEAD and become another Thai statistic. Did you know that 60, yes 60 motorcyclists are killed every day in Thailand. You wanna be one of them. One of the things I avoided saying earlier but I'll say it now is this. There is on...

Okay guys, This thread has developed into one of road safety. On that I have a lot to say. Trouble is that we're all very good at talking the talk but has anyone ever tried walking the walk. I'm with Jockey, in that questions (not criticisms) need to be asked. I, like lots of you guys, bought my hou...
