Interesting, thanks for the link. I haven't done any online ordering since I came to LOS, I'll ensure I read the whole thing before I order anything.

Re: Building a House
Before I go into all the specifics, are you prepared to pay 300% extra to get a house built to the standards you are talking about? From what I've seen only custom builders can or will do the job.
Materials are available though. Go look at Thai Watsadu

Re: Sewage treatment
But it's just as disgusting having to unblock the toilet every couple of weeks. I used to be of the same opinion as Nereus, but a few blocked toilets later, I soon changed my mind. Maybe it's the standard of plumbing in our house, but flushing toilet paper is a definite no, no. We had friends stayi...

Re: Sewage treatment
I understand that septic tanks (without leach fields) are used almost exclusively in Thailand. I would like to know if this is this has been a big concern for anyone. Thank you, Sid L. A septic tank system will not work without some form of outlet for the treated water. Not sure just what you mean ...

As much as I'd like to own land myself, I can see a real problem for Thais if we could own land.Dannie Boy wrote:Yes and throw in the ability to buy land and we'll all be as happy as pigs in ****
Basically all the good land would be owned by foreigners and they'd be left with the scraps.

2 Days in BKK - Need Taxi
I'm planning to spend 2 days in BKK. I will need a taxi from Khao Tao to US Embassy. I will need a return trip the next day or possibly the day after. Not really interested in putting the taxi driver up in a hotel and paying for their meals.

Shipping Gift from US - import duty?
I have family in the US that want to send me something for Christmas. It is not cheap. If they send me a gift, will I have to pay the import duty?
