Re: Hua Hin Beach - Toilets/Showers

Damn, welcome to the club ant6783, you have learned the tactics of the inhabitants of this Hen House really quickly..! Have not been there in a long time but there used to be showers at the beach at the military base south of town. When we go to the beach we always take along a small jug of water fo...

Re: Train Chumphon to Hua Hin

Plus you will have far more chance of getting a seat by boarding at Chumphon. At Bang Krut The train can likely already be full. If you have one of those small folding canvas stools it might be handy. The 3rd class fare will probably only be ± ฿100

Re: Train Chumphon to Hua Hin

That’s right - 7:01am northbound train from Chumphon is 3rd class. No bookings for 3rd class, 3rd class tickets only sold at the station, are not sold until 30 minutes before departure time and you will not get a seat number. As you have discovered, all trains, and other transport, are at full capac...

Re: Hua Hin to Prachuap by train

Cha-am to Hua Hin might b a fun ride and give u a chance to experience the “ordinary” (3rd class) trains with just a 25 minute ride = not too long even if standing room only. Schedule shows it leaving Cha-am at: 11:19, 13:11, & 17:24. 3ed class rickets are usually sold only within 30 minutes bef...

Re: Bringing 110v electric appliances to Thailand

connected in series the line voltage drop across each section, armature and field, is roughly 50%.
Isn’t that essentially what I said - parallel connected 110v universal motor - use it on 220v by changing to series connection which drops 220v across the mptpr by 50%.

Re: Bringing 110 electric appliances to Thailand

Oops - shud have said a motor’s field coils can be wired series or parallel to change the motor’s voltage. It is smaller universal motors, like in hand held power tools, that field and commutator can be series or parallel

Re: Bringing 110 electric appliances to Thailand

You don’t give much info but if your table saw really is a substantial one with a belt drive motor its usually just a matter of switching 2 wires in the motor’s junction box. USA 110 volt single phase motors are usually wired with comutater and armature in parallel and you simply switch 2 wires to p...

Re: Obtaining customs clearance

Maybe a point is being missed. Possibly this recent development is some measure of vindictiveness toward the new USA roll back of preferential tax treatment toward Thailand products. But my opinion, for whatever its worth, has always been that other countries should impose tax on Thai products that ...

Re: Air in our toilet system - Help!

My estimate would = nothing to do with the water supply because water line is under pressure so a leak wud let water leak out, not air leak in. Plus even if air is in the supply water it would float out while the water is in the toilet tank. My bet is a partial obstruction in the sewer line, only al...

Buksida - What nerious said about polarity is worth investigating. Regardles of what type wall sockets you have some electricians are careless about polarity, even falang ones. Are you plugging it directly into the wall, or UPS. With flat blade plugs the narrow blade is line and the wide blade is ne...

Re: Automatic Voltage Stabilizers - AVS/AVR/UPS

A line interactive UPS is a completely different animal and a poor substitute for a proper voltage stabilizer if battery back up is not needed. If you have a UPS with LCD readout you will see that it only stabilizes within some not very close parameters. When power is lost or its buck or boost capab...
