Re: Locations that serve a "good" Amercian / English breakfast.

Went to The Simbo today for breakfast at 09.30 and it was shuttered-up. Perhaps not open on a Sunday morning.

Interesting indeed! I’ll have to try that and see if it works for me too.

Re: Banking in HH

Many thanks HH! :) I'll look into it a bit more. I have had a couple of issues where a DC wasn't accepted. The Visa Debit card I have with Kasikorn Bank (just had to get a new one issued today) is different from the standard Visa debit card I have with other, non-Thai banks. The main difference is ...

Re: Thailand's imported wine crackdown

I've just come back from Makro, Hua Hin. They have loads of boxed Mont Claire, but 2 varieties (don't drink, so no idea what the difference is) Claret and Green box markings. Exactly the same as Tesco, 999 Baht for a 3 litre box. The colours denote red and white ‘wine’ respectively. I’ve always pre...

Re: New House without a pool?

Pool maintenance has not been expensive in my experience. Our house was built in 2012 and the pool benefitted from a 10 year warranty. The development management fee covers all pool maintenance, gardening, lighting and cleaning of common areas, security etc. for around 7,000 THB per month. You can o...

Re: Mobile phone blockers in Hua Hin?

The link from google pretty much covers it. You can buy small, battery powered ones that have perhaps a 5-10m effective radius for around 2,000 Baht, or larger, mains powered ones that might go up to 25m radius for around 6,000 Baht.

Re: phone blockers

I wasn’t able to find any in Hua Hin but bought two in Pantip Plaza at the ground floor market area. My brother runs a security company specialising in heritage buildings, mainly churches and civic buildings, he uses them to show how most wireless security products can be blocked by such things. I d...

Re: electric gate opener battery

On the other end of the system, my gate motor went kaput after being flooded at the end of last year. If anyone knows where I can get one for less than the 25k THB I’ve been quoted, I’d be grateful.

Thai Airways - Seating Restrictions for Obese

I was convinced this was an April Fool’s news story but apparently not: https://www.independent.co.uk/travel/news-and-advice/thai-airways-fat-passengers-banned-businessclass-boeing-7879-dreamliner-a8282916.html This strikes me as a total waste of time and towards the bottom of the list of ways Thai ...

Re: Kasikorn and SCB drop internet transfer fees

Kasikorn Bank has charged me 35 THB for an ‘immediate’ transfer of 50,000 (their current maximum interbank transfer amount) and 25 THB for an amount of - I think - less than 30,000.

Re: Treatment for arthritis/rheumatoid arthritis in HH?

Although cartillage doesn’t have a blood supply it can and does regrow, albeit slowly. The suffix ‘-itis’ simply means inflammation, as in tonsilitis, bronchitis, rhinitis, etc. Inflammation is a cell-mediated process and with rheumatoid arthritis in particular, the immune system is attacking the bo...

Re: Road Markings - Help Please

I seem to remember there being markings like this by the school on the right-hand side of the road when going up Soi 88, just past the French butcher’s shop. They were replaced with speed humps, such as they were, when the new drainage was put in and the road resurfaced this past year or so.
