Resident....... Or Not
What exactly is the status of someone, like many who live here, in regard to their residency. I know of some who have nothing back in their home country and while in effect are resident here they are still on various forms of Non-Immigrant visas be they O-A etc etc. I work on the basis that as the v...

Re: Do you get that look(Dirty sexpat )?
I am in a similar situation to JamesWest in regard to my wife's attitude to other Thai women albeit she is only a couple of years younger than me. Even though we have been married for 25 years it it is one aspect of our marriage that has never changed. I am considering getting an iPhone too so she c...

Fabric (advertising type) tubing
Does anybody know if there is a local distributor of the fabric tubes they use attached to a fan to attract (distract) motorists attention to various businesses. I am trying to find a way of venting our air con compressor fan outlet clear of the semi enclosed area in front of our house and out into ...

Re: Reciprocity : Good or Bad
It would cause a huge change in property prices if the UK made any foreign buyer prove that a UK national could hold freehold on property in their own country. It would be interesting if foreigners arrested on alcohol related charges were sent back to their own country where they would get more than...

Reciprocity : Good or Bad
Sat here hiding away from the heat of the day I was discussing with my wife the differences between my presence here as a foreigner and what it was like for her as a Thai in the UK. Needless to say property ownership (she owns half our house in the UK) and visa/reporting were discussed. I would love...

Re: British tourist kills police officer in Hua Hin road accident
Another accident at one of the U turns and this time a fatality. A neighbour recently was very lucky at one of the U turns on this stretch as she rather foolishly turned without having clear sight of the road. The fact that her vision was blocked by a vehicle illegally doing a U turn the opposite wa...

Re: Medical Cover Insurance for expats in HH
If, for whatever reason, there is no similar group scheme here and the Pattaya Expat Club will accept a Hua Hin resident as a member and, most importantly, local hospitals are included in the cover then a trip round to Pattaya, lifetime membership fee and perhaps night in a hotel will still result i...

Re: New Member Planning to Visit Hua Hin
I would have to ask others about how much it would cost for a driver for a day and the best place to find them. I know that some of the taxi riders outside the bank next to the entrance also have cars but not sure on their English. Hopefully some of the other more recent arrivals who do not have the...

Re: New Member Planning to Visit Hua Hin
Spend a lot of time checking out the forum as if you only have a few days you will struggle to see part of the place. When here either get a local driver who speaks reasonable English to take you round (or if you are brave rent a car or motorbike). Eat and drink at places frequented by expats as men...

Try googling Hua Hin Golf Tour or check the advertisers on this site. Some well established companies here that offer a complete package.

Re: Power cuts
Had a power failure last night in Roowamsook. As usual it was only one of the phases (the one serving our house). Usually they happen during the day and apart from in the past during the rainy season they occur when people are up and around. What would like to know is if there is an out of hours con...

Re: Is it Rip-Off Thailand
We experience it here but you could just as easily say rip off Asia, Arabia, Africa, South America. Even in Oz, Europe and North America the unwary will be ripped off. Forums like this can save the unwary a huge amount of grief be it financial or otherwise.

Re: Thailand's 7 deadly days on the road 2014/15
Just to show it is not just here that laws are ignored. I have been reading an Rticle n the UK cycling active magazine where the author states that he often ignores red lights. Probably gets away with it all the time as well. I wonder how long he would last here once against the big boys who don't g...

Re: Tiger Temple.......Kanchanaburi Province
No surprise it is in the news today as the authorities remove protected species and mention removal of some of the tigers later.
