food prices

Interesting stuff on butter prices. We noticed it just this month....we used to buy the soft butter all the time for toast but all of a sudden we noticed it wasn't available anywhere.... Finally found it at Big C but it was hugely expensive so we bought hard butter at .54......went back a week later...

Utility bills

It hasn't been mentioned, but if you have a friend or relative who can get your mail, they can take the bills to any 7-11 and pay both at the same time. Might be easier to set up than any other way. I've tried to get set up online with K-Bank and they will only do it in Thai. Also don't know if your...

G.W. Bush

Yeah, thanks for those words of encouragement.

Fortunately I think there are enough fed up Democrats this time to get the Republicans out of office before the whole country goes in the crapper......I just hope they're smart enough to vote for the man instead of the beast.

low exchange rates

There's always a silver lining. You should be from America.....we've lost 25% of our purchasing power since January of '06. Not only that, but thanks to the wonderful world of G.W. Bush we've had a home sitting on the market for two years, and no relief in sight. Three years ago the baht was 44-1......

Golf for longstayers

All of the big courses are 2,000 and up right now.....you'll get discounts in the fall but it's a long wait until then. If you live south of town you can play pretty cheaply (or at least you could last year) at the Army course in Pranburi.......Not fancy but it's still golf. The best thing is to buy...

Chili con carne

Not to be found in Thailand, I'm afraid, unless Villa Market or somewhere like that. It's been twenty years and I still can't get my wife to touch a bean of any kind. Thai's know of red beans which are used for desert, and those little black ones which I think are primarily used for Chinese sauces. ...

Cha Am to HH

Whoa.......for 180 Bht you can go all the way from HH to Bangkok on the mini bus. Seems like crazy88 was in a very good mood that night. Much depends on where you're going to and from. If you can be more definitive I'll ask here in Cha Am.....we pass several taxi services on our way in and out to th...

Positive relationships

O.K., this thread seems to be drying up.......suppose it's easier to get riled up about something than it is to report satisfying happiness.... :P

We'll do our part by announcing October 8 as our TWENTIETH anniversary.

I'm sure lot's of you can top that......let's hear from you.

Dentist

We use Bright Smile.......park in the Temple downtown and head north after exiting on the west side, not Petchkasem, the street the school is on....its across from the computer shop.

The office is new, clean and very efficient. They are opening up another office in Cha Am this spring.
