Re: Awning/Patio

Looks like you are getting plenty of suggestions for the "awning" part of your title, but I'm not sure if these places can build the free standing waterproof patio you mentioned in your post. I know a general contractor that does this and many other kinds of small to medium projects. They ...

Re: Best guesthouse with monthly rate?

I'd check out Phen's Guest House. You can google their website. Great neighborhood, 2 minute walk to the best section of the beach. It's located down Soi 75/1, then turn right at the first intersection, walk 20 more meters and its on the right. I stayed there many times when coming here for vacation...

2nd hand window bars for sale

I have 6 window bars, used but in good condition, for sale. 3 large ones, 190cm x 125cm, and 3 smaller ones, 160cm x 70cm. I am asking 1000 baht each, or all 6 for 5000 baht. See attached pictures.

Re: Windows 10 Developments

My advice is still the same, don't upgrade your version of Windows just because you can, especially if you have a perfectly fine working system at the moment, until the first "stable" version comes out with fixes and patches, usually known as SP1 (Service Pack 1), sit on the sidelines and...

Re: Need a new kitchen

Thanks for the tips and information, especially on the need to properly seal granite countertops. I'm wondering, besides granite, what are the other choices for countertops that are available here in Thailand ? In Alaska, we had a high end home that had a "Corian" countertop that we enjoye...

Re: Need a new kitchen

I am planning to completely redo my kitchen, new cupboards, counters, sink, stove, faucets, etc. I want to engage a company to come take measurements and develop a design proposal, and then to accomplish the entire upgrade. I want to modernize my kitchen. I've briefly looked at Boontavorn, hafelle, ...

Re: Excel Spreadsheet Genius Required

I consider myself fairly advanced with Excel, and know how to use and / or figure out the formulas. Would you like to get together so I can take a look at the issue ? No money required :)

Re: What's the current beach situation for short term tourists?

Go to soi 75/1, walk down to the beach and you'll find a nice, but slightly expensive restaurant that also rents beach recliners and umbrellas. Very nice area, just slightly south of Market Village. Penns Guest House offers very nice, comfortable cheap rooms just 2 minutes walk from the beach in thi...

Re: Private Thai Language Lessons

I attend classes at Sirada, just finished year 2 and starting year 3. I can read and write Thai fluently, although I mis-spell Thai words frequently, still, due to the multiple consonants and other anomalies in the written Thai language. I attend classes twice a week, 2 hours each day, cost is 3,10...

Re: Private Thai Language Lessons

My daughter is on an ED visa and is with Sirada. Cannot fault the school. However, I think you'll find that lessons are now 4 days X 2 hours to comply with immigration rules of 400 hours in the year recently updated from 200 hours. Maybe you're not on an ED visa and therefore do not need to comply ...

Re: Fish and Chips

Over the last two days, after reading this thread about how good the fish and chips are at the "bar Tender", my wife and I have searched for this retuarant. First at night, then today during daylight. Of course we could not find it anywhere on soi 94. This evening, I finally realized the p...

Re: Proof of funds for visa extension - what formats?

My first year, I used the bank deposit method. I arrived at immigration with the signed letter from Bangkok Bank, and a copy of my bank statement. Unfortunately, the bank letter stated I had 860,000 baht while my statement showed I had 1,250,000 baht. Immigration sent me back to the bank to get a ne...
