Re: Life in Thailand Poll No.7 (Temptations)
I forgot to mention that those that are yet to arrive, but it's going to happen anyway, could speculate what they might have to watch as most have way enough experience of being here to have a good idea of what the pitfalls might be once actually here. Ok I fall into this category. I voted...

Re: Poll: Thailand growing more unhappy as cost of living so
Unfortunately prices everywhere are going up. Here in California gas prices have gone up 35 cents a gallon in the last 10 days. Food is also rising rapidly. I'd be curious as to the difference in prices between here, and Thailand, now versus the past. I know for those residents the prices rise and s...

Re: The thing you miss the most?
As for being stared at, I am moving back to the heart of California and me walking around with my Thai friend(Not my wife, not my GF) will go completely unnoticed. In fact that is one of the beauties of going back is the cultural diversity in California. I'll second that. I live in Southern Califor...

If your friends are young, and employable back in their home country, then give it a go, just keep enough safety net to go back and restart. So, no teaching or bars, what about rental properties, restaurant? I think it was mentioned she is Thai? I'm fiscally conservative, but if one wants to try the...

Re: Cravings
Maybe you need to assert yourself a bit on the shopping/cooking front TTJ! I love rice meals but agree 3 times a day with no respite does get a bit samey. Don't you buy in cereals, cheeses, Reeces, bagels etc? Or meat pies and stuff for the freezer? Even just doing a jacket potato to have with the ...

Re: Monthly Finance - Constructive criticism please
Thanks all!
I'd rather overbudget as I tend on the conservative side.
House wise a pool would be desired, but for the 2 (or 3) don't really need a palace.
Won't play a lot of golf, shoulder has had 3 surgeries and still not good, but I do enjoy scuba diving so some trips will be needed.

Monthly Finance - Constructive criticism please
Reading cost of living posts around I've been working on compiling a budget for eventual retirement to Thailand. I've also asked members about this (thanks!! ) but thought I would give my breakdown for comments. I know it's similar to other cost of living threads, but I have tailored for ou...
