NAKHON PHANOM — Continuous heavy rain has flooded more than 15,000 rai (5,930 acres) of paddy fields in this northeastern province, with six districts declared disaster zones.
Over the past week, persistent downpours have led to a rapid rise in the Mekong River, increasing by 20 to 30 centimetres daily. As of Thursday morning, the river level reached 8.20 metres – nearly one metre higher than three days earlier. Although still 3.8 metres below the critical overflow level of 12 metres, concerns were mounting.
The swelling Mekong River has begun to affect its major tributaries - Nam Kam, Nam Bang, Nam Songkhram and Nam Oun...........

Nakhon Phanom is just up river from Nongkhai.
We are right on the Mekong. Rain and floods ....... almost nothing. The odd heavy shower every couple of days but all short lived.

If you are downriver, you won't need rain. Get to high ground now.

I take your point but the 'forecasters' named Nongkhai last Monday 7th and forecast flash floods, mudslides etc in the coming week. Danger period for the 6th to 12th.
We're already at the 10th and have had virtually nothing.
Maybe we're going to pay for it in the next couple of days.
Today we had sunshine. Now 9pm and like most days - no rain. We probably will have some heavy rain in the early hours but so far it's come to nothing.
We'll see. I'll make sure my virtual umbrella is ready!!

On July 12, the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) reported heavy rainfall causing flash floods and sudden floods in Nan and Uttaradit provinces, affecting 5 districts, 18 sub-districts, and 82 villages. A total of 1,152 households and 4,468 people have been affected.

Heavy overnight rain has triggered widespread flooding in many northern provinces of Thailand, with Phrae bearing the brunt as runoff swept through communities and farmland in Song district. No injuries or deaths were reported...........
