And the center of the storm is now less than 2,000km away from HH.

What has not been reported is now shown on an updated synoptic chart. The dashed red line and the associated low pressure area over Thailand, Laos and Cambodia is the cloud bank that we can see. It is all upper level clouds, not surface winds.

Yes, I just happen to be in Pattaya and Beach Road is / was well and truly flooded.

Floods hit Bangkok, Chon Buri's Pattaya and Bang Lamung

Heavy rain on Sunday flooded many roads in Bangkok, including the major arteries of Ratchadaphisek and Ramkhamhaeng. Pictures posted on Twitter showed flooding at Rajamangala National Stadium.

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration reported stretches of 17 different roads were underwater.

Pattaya and Bang Lamung districts in Chon Buri were also hit by torrential rain on Sunday. The downpour started around 1pm and lasted about two hours, flooding numerous roads and causing traffic congestion.

Pattaya's Beach Road, including the Walking Street section, saw water levels rise to between 30 and 50 centimetres. Officials and volunteers helped move stalled cars to higher ground.

The worst hit area of the resort city was a road running parallel to the eastern railway tracks, with water rising to one metre in places.

The flooding in most areas started to subside once the rain stopped.

Rainfall in the eastern, northeastern, central and southern regions was due to a weather system blowing into the country from the South China Sea, said Chaicharn Sitthiworranan in the Meteorological Department's daily forecast on Sunday. Rain will continue on Monday, the forecaster added.

Netizens on social media pointed to Typhoon Trami as the cause of heavy rains in the country but Mr Chaicharn dismissed the claims.

"Typhoon Tsami will have no impact on the weather in Thailand," he said, but advised travellers to Taiwan and the Chinese coast near Taiwan check weather conditions from Monday to Wednesday as Trami is approaching those areas.

Rain continues to pound capital

Online news:
The stormy weather will continue in Bangkok at least until Thursday, with downpours also forecast for some areas in the northern and northeastern regions, the Meteorological Department said on Monday.

The weather agency expected rain in 60% of Greater Bangkok on Monday, gradually decreasing through until Thursday.
Residents of Bangkok and its vicinity woke up to rain on Monday morning. The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration reported falls in almost all districts, with Bang Sue the hardest hit.

People in northern and northeastern provinces can also expect more rain, as well as the Andaman coast.
The agency also stressed that Typhoon Trami was not a factor in bringing rain across much of the country. Rain and changing weather conditions were due to the seasonal transition from the wet to the cold season, it said. (yes, they may just have that right for a change, as this lot has come in from the East)

Residents of the North and Northeast are warned to brace for thundershowers and gusty winds from today through to Monday, with the same conditions forecast for the East, South and Central regions, including Bangkok, from Saturday.

It warned of severe weather conditions from Sept 28 to Oct 1.

On Friday thunder showers and gusty winds are forecast for 10 provinces in the North (Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Lamphun, Lampang, Phayao, Phrae, Nan, Uttaradit, Phitsanulok and Phetchabun) and 12 provinces in the Northeast (Loei, Nong Bua Lam Phu, Udon Thani, Nong Khai, Bung Kan, Nakhon Phanom, Sakon Nakhon, Mukdahan, Kalasin, Khon Kaen, Amnat Charoen and Ubon Ratchathani)

From Sept 29 to Oct 1, affected areas are 10 provinces in the North (Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Lamphun, Lampang, Phitsanulok, Phetchabun, Phichit, Kamphaeng Phet, Sukhothai and Tak), 13 provinces in the Northeast ( Mukdahan, Kalasin, Maha Sarakham, Khon Kaen, Chaiyaphum, Nakhon Ratchasima, Buri Ram, Surin, Roi Et, Yasothon, Amnat Charoen, Ubon Ratchathani and Si Sa Ket); 15 provinces in the Central Plains ( Ratchaburi, Kanchanaburi, Uthai Thani, Chai Nat, Nakhon Sawan, Sing Buri, Ang Thong, Lop Buri, Saraburi, Ayutthaya, Nakhon Prathom, Suphan Buri, Samut Songkhram, Samut Sakhon, Bangkok and its vicinity), eight provinces in the East (Chachoengsao, Nakhon Nayok, Prachin Buri, Sa Kaeo, Chon Buri, Rayong, Chanthaburi and Trat), and seven provinces in the South (Phetchaburi. Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Surat Thani, Ranong, Phangnga and Phuket.

We've been floating over here in Rayong area for a few days now, with another big storm almost here. Enough is enough! :( I saw some storms over HH early morning, did it amount to anything exciting? Pete

Yes, it amounted to a lot. Mrs BB went shopping mid-morning, and water was still half way up to her knees inside the shop.

I didn't even know it had been raining until I ventured out at lunchtime. Nobody can believe (including me) how I managed to sleep through it all.

I was up half the night with the thunder and lightning and of course, the heavy rain that went with it, but by 5pm the surface water had largely disappeared - although more is forecast over the next few days

What a night of rain, one of the most prolonged spells of heavy rain I can remember. Have had to dump water from the swimming pool twice and it’s still very close to the top and surface water everywhere - mind you this is one instance where the local forecast was spot on, with them forecasting 100% rain for about 6 hours. It’s just about stopped now, but I’m sure there is more to come.

Yes, it looks like you're going to have a very wet day! That long arm in the Gulf is moving east to west right into you over there.

No current synoptic chart, only yesterdays. :banghead:

The low pressure trough causing the rain is / was stationary over the southern part of Thailand including Prachuap KK.
It also looks like the Monsoon has made a rapid swing around to the North East, but during the transition there are likely to be very variable conditions.
