Yes, it could be a difficult night on both sides of the Gulf and Bangkok as well.

It is difficult to predict at this time of the year during the transition from SW to NE Monsoon. Very overcast in Bangkok, and there has been some light rain, which caught me out and blew in through the open patio door while I was having a nap!

I am less than 1 Km from Thonglor and did not have a drop of rain!

No problem! But it is an interesting phenomena as to just what has caused that low pressure cell to suddenly develop as it has. There is still not any big pressure gradient, or strong surface winds. It has to be associated with warm air feeding it from the North East originating in China. There is another low pressure area out in the Andaman Sea, so it looks like its change of direction was affected by that also. :?

Weather Warning
"Heavy Rain in South"
No. 1 Time Issued : October 23, 2018

The low pressure cell over the lower South China Sea is likely to move into the Gulf of Thailand through the South to the Andaman Sea from 24-26 October. Outbreaks of torrential rains will be forecast for the southern provinces: Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, Pattani, Yala, Narathiwat, Ranong, Phangnga, Phuket, Krabi, and Trang. People in the risk areas should beware of a possible flash flood and the overflow of river.

The wind waves in the Gulf will be likely 2-3 meters high but more than 3 meters high in thundershower areas. All ships should proceed with caution, and small boats should keep ashore.

The advisory is in effect on 23 October 2018 at 11.00 a.m.

The next issue will be on 23 October 2018 at 23.00 a.m.

I thought I felt a chill in the air.

BANGKOK — Thais might need sweaters while Europeans will continue wearing shorts come Saturday (October 27), which has been deemed the official start of this year’s cold season.

The roughly four-month season will see its coolest weather mid-December and January, according to the national weather agency, with the chilliest temperatures felt the soonest in the north and northeast.

Provinces including Chiang Rai, Tak, Phayao, Nan, Loei, Sakon Nakhon and Nakhon Phanom could see temperatures fall below 8C.

The capital and central region will see a less drastic cooling, with average lows of about 20. Meteorologists said Bangkok should expect weather similar to that of last year.

The south won’t catch much of the cool wave due to ongoing monsoon season conditions. Provinces on the gulf will experience torrential rains and be at risk for flash flooding. Residents on the Andaman side will see colder, drier air with strong winds creating a potential wildfire hazard.

Not sure how widespread it has been, but there’s been plenty of rain where we are yesterday and during the night and it’s just started again - it’s time to dump water from the pool yet again.

I've been hearing rumbles of thunder for a few days now, but here in Hua Hin, AFAIK, we've been dry for 24 hours. It was fine one the beach yesterday, where I actually got my journey North underway.

I will say though, my view North did become rather obstructed for a while, and assumed rain was going to get me, but it never got to Hua Hin.

I woke up this morning expecting the big freeze - a bit disappointed at the moment, although I am considering switching the fan off.

Fee air con from China arrives:
………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..
Cooler weather moves in

https://www.bangkokpost.com/news/genera ... recent_box

The first breath of winter is being felt in many provinces, with temperatures dropping and cool, breezy days in the northern half of the country, including Bangkok, and the weatherman forecasting a further fall of 1-3°C.

In the Northeast, the mercury fell to 19°C in Nakhon Phanom on Wednesday morning.

In the North, Doi Ang Khang, in the mountainous district of Fang in Chiang Mai, recorded 15°C.
The Meteorological Department said the capital will experience "windy" weather with a continual drop in temperatures of up to 2°C, and a further one-notch down in the North and Northeast.

"People should take care of their health duting to the weather change," the statement said.
But the colder weather also means a happy time for traveling.

Nakhon Phanom governor Siam Sirimongkhon invited tourists to visit to his province under sunny skies and enjoy the scenic views along the Mekong River.

The Meteorological Department also said on Wednesday that tropical storm Yutu is moving westward from the Philippines and is expected to disperse in the upper South China Sea, and will not affect Thailand.

More rain is forecast for areas in the South.

There was a definite ‘chill’ in the air when riding the bike last night! It looks to be about 4-5c cooler today, but that could be the lovely wind!
