When was your first visit to Hua Hin?
Thanks Willis. We are fully enjoying.
For those of you who rent rooms / hotels when you visit LOS (like we used to do) I can recommend the same thing. Whether it is an appartement or a house is not important i believe.
I have personaly never had such a good time in Thailand since after we bought the house. Before we "lived in a suitcase". Stayed in different hotels and traveled around to visit family and friends. Now they are visiting us, and I sleep in my comfortable bed every nigt, I keep what I like in my fridge, my wonderfull daughter always have her toys, her friends - and her PC. Most importantly my wife is happy which makes me happy as well. So as I said to begin with... We are fully enjoying.

If you want to make your dream come true, the first thing you have to do is to wake up.
First time HH
Had studied Northern Marianas for 8 years, due to the fact that I knew the first time my parents took me off of my continent, I would one day leave for good. Thailand came out of nowhere, but once I started studying, Hua Hin stood out.
After about two years of study (this forum being a major part), my wife and our dear friend and biz partner said--"if you think this is the place-go now" And I don't just mean LOS--I mean HH.
Once decided, my biz partner and I planned a time to go. One afternoon he called me to our local to say he couldn't make the trip, but I had to. Handed me a check and said go. Now for a few years (even before thinking about LOS), I had been recording the old 'Whats Up Thailand' just to see the sights, but since deciding on HH had been lamenting the fact that they had never shown HH.
As soon as I returned home to show my wife the check, checked DVR...
Hua Hin Jazzfest. We freaked. As she walked out to work just a few minutes later....a Thai delivery menu was attached to our front door. First Thai in my town that delivered (there had only been a Thai restaurant in town for a year or so) I had been here since 1976 (1995-2003 in Northern Ca) But this one delivered and wound up on my door at this minute on this day!!!! My life has never been the same. More later, too long already. Cheers all! Pom ruk Tai

November 1999, first time in Thailand with two friends (Patrick et Philippe). after few days in Bkk: HH and the Fulay GH. First night, a small bar soi bintabath, met my good old friend John (Mc Morris) and my first time at the paradise disco! Something funny for me: I remember the people watching golf on TV and speaking about golf, so strange for french guy!!!! hahahaha!!!
First time I came to Hua Hin was December 02 and stayed in the Grand Hotel.
However, first came to Thailand in December 1990. Started off as a Holiday of lifetime, then Annual Holiday of lifetime, then three monthly holiday of lifetime, then in April 04 moved here full time.
Roads have improved over the years but that is about all. Still Not bad though.

Came to HH on my own in '99-high season. I spent many a night round at the Hare & hounds being told the do's and (far more) dont's by Mags,Billy &
Per-Per-Peter (Wilson). By taking heed of nothing Billy & Peter said, and
sticking by Mag's rules of survival I reckon (up to that car gettin' in my way) I've bumbled thru' OK. Life for me then in HH was far less complicated I reckon. Thanks go to all who 'guided me' in the days when there was Carlsberg in the fridges...remember??

Re: When was your first visit to Hua Hin?
First visited HH in 2008 as a side trip whilst on business with Thai Airways. Before that i (and the majority of the West Aussie population) had never heard of HH. Dont worry i wont tell anyone haha. Have been back 7 times since then.
I met my now pregnant fiance whilst getting my haircut in town, i was not looking for a relationship at all back then, but these things happen when you least expect them. MURF might have seen an increasing belly size accross the road, however she has just finished up work Saturday just gone. This Friday 26th i will fly to Thailand to spend the month with her and lodge the Aussie visa for her whilst there. She has already been to Perth previously.
We are both young (me 31, her 30) we plan to work down here in Aus for 6 or 7 years and add to the already substantial property portfolio, then build a house either on her mum's 3 rai in Khao Tao or her dad's 50 rai in Pranburi, we will look at that later on in life.
I feel at home in Hua Hin and agree with most on here, it seems to relax you.
I dont think i could ever feel at home in Phuket, Pattaya, Bangkok or Chiang Mai, hua hin is the place for me for an early retirement.

Re: When was your first visit to Hua Hin?
I first came in 2004 November time for only a few days after a trip to Ko Samui.
Been to around to other places to see the country side and the beautiful Islands but still Hua Hin is the place you can feel at home.
Other counties just do not meet the warmth of the welcome from people you do not know Hua Hin much more so than other Thailand main parts. Did not feel that i could go to Phuket ( and would never go Pattaya) alone but here i not mind and feel that I can be fine.
There is fun if you want it, but if you don't you can keep yourself away for it all. when i first came i did not know about this site. Which has point out and help me to know my way around the place. This and the people that make and run the site and the business on here help to make the place the great town it is ( well done )
If all goes to plan ( hope the world sorts it self out) I will be spending my last years which i hope will be many in Hua Hin, This time will be looking to see the cost of a place a small one just for me and if i am lucky a nice lady that i am start to be very found of.
Hope the place stays a great as it is or just get better.
all the best

Re: When was your first visit to Hua Hin?
My first visit to HH was back in 2002, a group of us travelling around Thailand decided to stay in HH for 2 nights on the way to Samui. Met up with Craig from U-turn and Tim who used to own all Nations on the 1st night.
We stayed for 3 weeks and I have remained friends with Craig ever since.
Met my wife in HH and she no lives with me in Australia. I now come to HH evry year for 4 weeks, my next trip over in on April 13th.
Can't wait
