Kitty, many Hua Hin attractions are what I call 'plastic' - man made. However many are enjoyed by a lot of tourists every day. Thousands of Bangkokians travel down here every weekend to take selfies at most of them.

If you're here, it might be worth trying one or 2 to see how you feel about them. Most are free admission.

Don't be put off by us residents - we've all been there (well most of us).

So here's the Bader-Meinhoff working well.

I heard about this place last week for the first time, and I've heard 4 or 5 people talk about it since.

Where *is* it?

On the left as you go towards Khao Takiab. Have a look at the Khao Takiab map.

It seems that Hua Hin Floating Market (the first 1 on the left of Soi 112 going north) has changed hands again.
The tenants have been given notice to move out by the 4th of December and rumour is it will be turned completely into a resort without any 'market stalls'. The previous owner was going to turn it into a resort/market.

Sorry if this sounds negative but none of them. Here is the deal, the same items you can buy at the Hua Hin Night Market are sold at Cicada Market, both of the floating markets, Grand Market... in fact pick ANY place in Thailand with the word "Market"at the end and you will find the same fridge magnet, wooden frog, Thai style hat, scarfs, etc etc..

The difference with the floating Markets in Hua Hin, you are sold the same trinkets (crap) but someone built a man made lake and then built stores around them. When it comes to Markets in Thailand I guess I am definitely a glass is half empty kind of person..

Why you are so negative ?? During the week, when no Bangkok citizens are here, its a nice walk arround the floating market.
But now only the second one is open. The first one is closed... I read here, the owner wants to construct a resort on this area.

I and my visitors from the UK have always enjoyed a walk around the '2nd' floating market. That is until they stuck an entrance fee on it (stupid). I have always bought my shorts and shirts there and found them much cheaper than in the markets in Hua Hin.

^ Your correct about the entrance fee, however, when me and a friend went there last week, there was a big argument with the staff and a couple of europeans with regard to the fee.... so we just slipped in behind them ;)
When nosy expats ask how can i live here without working, i reply, 'well, while you worked hard for 50 years, i worked smart for 5 years' :D

If you really still want to go encouraging this very racist practice, and you're too tight to pay the fee, you don't have to sneak in, just walk through one of the other entrances/exits - there are many.

And I mean racist. The sign says visitors. I am a resident of Hua Hin, yet they expected me to pay. Those with me were Thais who were visiting from the UK - they were free. This policy works on appearance/colour of skin, and has nothing whatsoever to do with whether or not you are a visitor.

Like BB said, I always park the car around the back of the market and use an alternate enterance, it's free and easy!

Despite knowing other ways in, I will not bother any more. Been there, seen it, bought their T-shirts. It's off my tourist map, which has to come out at least once a month on average. If visitors want a floating market in future, I will travel North, where the experience is much better/almost authentic.

IMHO Amphawa is the best. Spend one night and go on the firefly cruise as well (probably in an electric boat built by Barry).
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?
