Clean Hua Hin's beaches movement - Trash Hero
Re: Clean Hua Hin's beaches movement - Trash Hero
I'd guess a local chapter. The Hua Hin Heroes have more than enough to keep them busy here.

Ural, I am not in Hua Hin but the local trash heroes will welcome you, just go to where they are meeting, Papaya usually posts when, and where. Look for the yellow shirts and they will be happy for the help.Ural_4320 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 27, 2018 9:37 pm I wish such heroes existed in every city in the world... Even in big cities in Western Europe it is sometimes very dirty, or in the countryside too. Russia has this problem, because I see it everyday, and apparently Thailand has it...
I may not be the youngest person in the world, but I hope I will be able to attend if I can. I don't know about Hua Hin, but I know that in big tourist cities, most of the littering is done by foreigners (and, I'm ashamed to admit it, but Russian tourists are often champions at this, especially in Turkey, Thailand and Egypt, because these are the destination where lowlife Russians like to go on holidays) so someone has to clean the beaches.... and the honor of his country!
The proper function of man is to live, not to exist. I shall not waste my days in trying to prolong them. I shall use my time.

Re: Clean Hua Hin's beaches movement - Trash Hero
Well guys. I completed my beach walk to Takiab this afternoon, and I have to say, the beach was filthy - so different to a couple of days ago. On my journey South, I saw 3 groups cleaning the beach. The first were a couple in Trash Hero shirts - obviously moonlighting (or getting in a bit of practice before the main event at Navy Pirom at 4 ).
Next I came across a bunch of about 12 Thai schoolgirls, neatly turned out in their blue uniforms. They were shy, and had scarpered before I could snap their photo, but it was very obvious what they were doing.
Finally, I came a cross about 6 Thai adults cleaning the beach. I tool a couple of zoomed in photos of these guys - I still basically missed them, but you can see the sacks they had collected.
I thought it was worth mentioning this here because of occasional comments we get that Thais don't do their bit.

An excellent turn out by 54 Heroes (including 4 kids) yesterday to clean a very dirty beach at Navy Pirom. In just 1 hour, they removed a staggering 600 Kg of rubbish from the beach.
A big Thank You to every one of you. Your efforts are really appreciated.

Re: Clean Hua Hin's beaches movement - Trash Hero
Just to be perverse; what if private citizens didn't clean the beaches? How long would it be until the Govt. started fining people for littering and making the litterers clean up the beach?
Re: Clean Hua Hin's beaches movement - Trash Hero
I think the problem is that most of the litter is washed up, and originates hundreds/thousands of miles away. Certainly, most of what I saw yesterday (and there was plenty to see) had not been generated locally. This is not just Hua Hin's problem - it is worldwide.
With respect to Papaya's report, there was so much trash on the beach yesterday, I would guess 600 Kg would have covered a very small area.
