I'll keep this thread going. I too ran into JC in Cha Am during the kite festival a few months back. I had watched all of his videos before heading to HH, which I might add, were very beneficial. So I thought I'd politely go up and thank him for all his efforts. This was in a bar and he was sitting with his family and some other farangs. I picked my moment when they weren't in deep conversation and he seemed friendly enough. The other farangs were members of his site and were moving to Takiab soon. I think they were keener to talk to me than he was as I was already living in Takiab. I thought he was fine but when I returned to my table, the wife did say to me that she thought he was disinterested and sort of fobbed me off. I guess he gets sick of people annoying him. If that's the case, then he is in the wrong business considering...

Hi all like jagfx i have watched most of his videos and for a time i was a member of his site ,i found his videos very informative about all kinds of things in thailand he tries to keep you informed on any changes to legislation regarding farang issues when he can .

He has a vehicle he calls the ripper mobile that he takes on the road to different places just to show people who maybe thinking of retiring there what areas are available and what you would get for a certain price range depending on your finances. All in all i think he does a good service to perspective retirees with his advice and i have found his videos entertaining .

I suppose its hard to know what was going on the time the op tried to engage with him and i know that he was sitting in a theatre in chaing mai when someone fronted him telling him how good they thought his videos were and i dont think he was to impressed with it .He has always said fly under the radar dont draw attention to yourself and maybe this is what he lives by i dont know his circumstances ,anyway i find his videos enjoyable to watch

Umm posting a load of videos on YouTube really, really doesn't sound like a flying-under-the-radar kind of lifestyle :?

Is it OK if I jump in here? I am the "celebrity" in question. I must admit I feel very uncomfortable with titles, especially that one. I feel I should clear a few things up based on the first two pages of replies I read. My YouTube channel introduces people hitting retirement age with few possibilities of any "golden years" to what most of us like about Thailand. "More life for less money" as I like to call it. I shun any spotlight about what I do but I do appreciate that it helps people find more retirement options. The YouTube videos funnel people really serious about living here to the member site where they can connect with others and get the necessary details needed to make the leap. The proceeds form it goes to support the free and member site's infrastructures, donates money to our favorite orphanage in Chiang Mai, funds small projects to help those less fortunate here in Thailand and if any is left it helps with a little of the travel expenses to make the videos. The money doesn't go to me. I am retired and just share my thoughts and experiences here. Yes I do now get recognized because the channel is about to hit 5 million views. I appreciate that there is a need for what I have created but I never confuse what I do with who I am. But anybody, besides Deep Blue, who has approached me can attest to the fact that I am open and appreciative and will tell you that I am the same off camera as I am on. What you see is what you get.
Now on to this particular posting and I apologize for being a bit long winded but I figured a little back story was needed in this case. As you can imagine I get all kinds of comments and compliments to my videos. I delete only the most harassing of comments that serve no purpose except for the poster who enjoys flaming. On very rare occasions I feel the need to block somebody from continually harassing other viewers or degrading the channel. To me my channel and member site is like my home. Polite, friendly and informative guests are welcomed. The rest can find another place to park themselves and harass others.
So one day I was with my wife waiting at Swensen's and some guy I have never seen before comes up to me and raps me on the shoulder and goes into a tirade saying something about he was blocked and I am an American and something about free speech and while still in his tirade starts to walk away. I said without shouting and drawing attention, "I have no idea who you are or what you are talking about". And then he was gone. I looked at my wife and said, "what was that about?" To this day I still have no clue. But it appears that whatever behavior caused him to be blocked is also evident in his approach to me in person and now here in the Hua Hin Forum. But hey it takes all kinds, right?
I do find it interesting that in the 2 pages of replies here in the thread that I read before making this reply, that there wasn't even a question as to his story being genuine or not though. But that's OK. No worries. It's all good. And I have heard the saying, "any publicity is good publicity", so I guess I should thank Deep Blue. Maybe the kids at the orphanage will get something special for Christmas this year as a result.
Again sorry for being long winded but I just wanted to speak my piece and clear up a few things. Thanks for your patience.

I must admit I wasn't curious enough to look at your vids but I will try tomorrow if I have time.

However, well done for coming on the forum and putting your side of the story with no malice or revenge.

It might have been better if you had read all 4 pages and how the thread moved on. But I agree with Pagey, a nice response.

Well went to Village Market today and never saw a celebrity. Disappointing.

Saw a few girls I would liked to have tapped though!

Okay JC, that was a good story. LOL. I talked to some other people after Market Village that know his situation and are his site members. They say he’s in dire straits money wise - living in his van with his Thai girlfriend on Cha-Am beach most of the time. I’d be stressed out too and I would be very self-conscious and embarrassed about having my lifestyle exposed to more well-off farangs. So I think he might want to avoid that unless it’s video related.

Looking back I shouldn’t have tapped him on the shoulder and just thanked him for the info that helped me get over here. My fault, I had just bought some wine and was late for dinner with friends and recognized the face but I couldn’t place it, who was this guy? It took awhile.

To be honest, some of his ex-members were unhappy with his bait and switch tactics, always asking for money, e.g. here, where he asks members to buy his van for him

It was told to me that he ran a large personal security service in the US where some people got hurt and lawsuits resulted so he had to flee.

But overall I think he helps people with his videos. So JC I apologize I didn’t mean to scare you, maybe we can have dinner some time on me?

Whatever the truth of the matter, Deep Blue, I don't like your style one bit. If you have a grouse with this bloke, take it up with him directly, but don't try and involve the rest of us and don't take sneaky sideswipes.

No class, no style.

I couldn't agree more. A bit grand coming from a poster, with a history such as mine, I know - but I don't tend to ridicule or belittle people... I do tend to wind people up for the purpose of debate, mind. :D

Sir, I wasn’t going to comment about this anymore but after he came back with his long Alice in Wonderland story and this part when we’re down deep in the rabbit hole;

No, not directly, but you insinuate them into your posts in such a way that your meaning is quite clear.
Like I said, sneaky.
