This lunchtime 6 (yes it took 6) worker-men put up 2 'security' cameras on the corner of Poolsuk & Binta..1 facing North down Poolsuk, & the other facing down Binta.
These are the type of cameras used in many city-centres, (with zoom-in facility), but who is monitoring them..? Is it the police?
I walked down Poolsuk to Burger King, & right round to the Hilton end of Binta..no other cameras, then there's 1 more nestled on the overhead JD sign opposite King Bar facing up the Soi.
How many more cameras can we spot? Are they JUST to cover the 'nightlife' area..?

From now on US, be sure that your stripy pants are clean nicely ironed and your girls are modestly dressed Big Brother is definitely watching YOU!

Thailand's lack of CCTV cameras was one reason I chose to settle here many years ago. Looks like that's all changing now

They installed some at the junction on Soi 94 where the new market is, attached to the conner bar.

I wouldnt worry too much about the authorities watching you. You can be sure that sooner or later with no maintenance they will be inoperative. Do you remember City Wide WIFI, big announcement on the TV and newspapers HH would be the first community in Thai to have Free citywide WiFi. Well they put upa few routers on the main road and after about a year it all failed and we never heard about it again. There was a story that somebody ran off with all the money allocated--Imagine!

I noticed that bank of cameras yesterday, and thought how ironic.Pagey wrote:They installed some at the junction on Soi 94 where the new market is, attached to the conner bar.
That junction is a fairly busy crossroads with an unwritten rule (I can't see that any other road rule applies) giving East-West traffic priority over North-South traffic. Thailand being Thailand, I've seen quite a few accidents at the junction over the years.
In any other sensible road network, they would have at least used a bit of paint on the road to indicate right of way. A set of traffic lights would have been more sensible.
What do they do do in Thailand? They install a brilliant set of CCTV cameras to film the accidents
