Hua Hin Post Office

Post by maccastime »

Just curious if any other members are having problems with mail deliveries?
Mail to our village just never arrives,if it does on a rare occasion,it is a month old? I receive my tot bill well after it is due.
My Health Insurance papers from Bangkok go missing every year, even when it is sent as registered mail,i have to go into that place they call a post Office?? which is a disgrace, they ask did i receive a note to collect registered mail? no,you are then taken upstairs....mail all over the floor, total shambles. There i locate my Insurance letter from Bangkok,i ask why is it here??? no understand.
This year again i attempt to locate my health insurance papers, sent a month ago,3 visits into post office,no sign of my mail,i then get told maybe i go to soy 16,they have some kind of office there, they say it could be there? i enquire can you ph them and ask,no you must go.
This Post Office needs a real kick in the butt, absolutely shambles.

This subject has been covered numerous times over a number of years and clearly nothing has improved - the HH post office clearly needs a change of senior management to turn things around. I used to be served by the HH PO and suffered the same problems, but now come under Cha Am and get a first class service, so the problem is specific to HH, not the post office generally.

For what it's worth I am still awaiting a parcel posted from UK on 7th February, we are into the 11th week now since posting, it will be 12 weeks on Friday. It's not heavy and it's not big.........about the size of a large shoe box. I still live in hope :-)

Why not pay for a PO Box at the main HH Post Office.

Get all mail sent there, walk in with your own key and check the box at your convenience.

I too have had recent problems with post going missing which I know has been sent from the UK. I live on Soi 114 and neighbours tell me they've also had nothing for ages.

I went to the main post office in search of missing post and was told my area was now served by a new office to the south of the flyover, just past the new water park on the left hand side heading south. When I went there I was welcomed by the postman who showed me his sorting rack for our development that had three letters in it - all looked like local utility bills. Under the rack were cardboard boxes stuffed with 'magazine size' envelopes. Nothing to be found in there either after rummaging through them.

That was two weeks ago and still nothing.

Post is working very well. All letters sent arrives at destination. The problem is distribution. Maybe not enough staff and postmen. If I am in a hurry to receive some post, I go directly to TOT Soi 16 and pick them up.

Hu Hin Post Office

Post by hhinner »

I never had any problems with the post in 20 years in Thailand, the last 10 of which in Hua Hin. Until last December. Now international mail (bank statements, letters from UK gov departments, magazine subscriptions) seems to have dried up.

I went to the sorting office at Soi 16 today to ask about this. The operation there looks fine. They have lots of space and everything is pretty tidy. No piles of post on the floor like it used to be at the main HH post office.

We don't have any problem with local Thailand mail, only international stuff. I'm guessing that the problem may be at Laksi, or somewhere between. I've also noticed that international tracked packages coming here also pass through Rachaburi now, whereas I'm pretty sure they used to come to Hua Hin directly from Laksi (but could be wrong). Maybe normal international mail comes that way too. And maybe there's a connection with the new (to me) low level of service?

The problem with mail is unless you are expecting something, you'll never know.

My P60 didn't turn up last year, and now our postal votes for the forthcoming UK election haven't arrived. If I know something is coming, and I consider it important, I will always ask that its tracked. Every tracked package has got to us one way or another.

Interesting reading. I sent a letter EMS to the U.S. Feb. 21. Arrived in N.Y. on March 1st where it still sits today. Is the Second letter sent via EMS that has arrived in NY and gotten "lost". After many visits to P.O. asking them to track it I requested a refund. Filled out all the paperwork and now waiting (well over a week now) for approval from BKK for refund. The people at our local P.O. here in Khanom know me well now. Though it is not the Thai P.O. who is at fault here, its the principal of paying for a service and not being able to deliver it. I don't care how many times I have to go to P.O., I won't let them pass me off. When they see me coming now they start searching for the latest paperwork.
