Help identifying this pool filter
Can any of you technical chaps give me the English name for this part? It is in an instruction manual for a sodium hypochlorite generator for swimming pools. In French, it is a filtre lesteur.

Never seen one! But some systems have sensors for water flow, salt level, temperature amongst them. What make of chlorinator is it?

Can't help you with further details, I'm afraid. It's not me, but I'm asking on his behalf. I had an idea you'd pop up with an answer!
The verb 'lester' means to ballast, if that helps.

If it's a hollow plastic tube with no electrical cable inside it does look like a pressure or chlorine sensor of some sort. Going from the chlorinator element chamber to the main wall unit?
Re: Help identifying this pool filter
I've just asked a couple of native French speakers and they suggested it could be "lecteur" which would mean it might be a filter differential pressure detector. In French, it is a filtre lesteur.
Re: Help identifying this pool filter
Well "ballast" in the context of water can mean water in a tank or similar. My best guess is that it is a flow sensor designed to inhibit the power to either the chlorinator, and /or the pump, when the water in the pool is low. There should be a display on the controller that reflects that condition, but some times those things just bring up a "fault" light, or a code number. The verb 'lester' means to ballast, if that helps.

Re: Help identifying this pool filter
Yes, that is also a possibility. Put there to show when the filter is blocked, or needs cleaning.
(why is this in Foo)

Re: Help identifying this pool filter
Thanks all. It turns out that this was simply a filter with ballast to keep it submerged.
(I put it in Foo as it was completely unrelated to Thailand).

Glad you got it sorted, DM. But I did have to chuckle at the subject of this topic on the main page.

Re: Help identifying this pool filter
Hi,
I want a pool filter for my swimming pool but I am not able to find what type of pool filter should I buy. Kindly suggest me. My swimming pool has a dimension of 25 meters in length, 20 meters in breadth and 4 meters in depth.
Thanks

Re: Help identifying this pool filter
Do you mean meters or feet? 4 m deep would be very strange.
Re: Help identifying this pool filter
Better to make your own. Take 2 meters of strong rope, tie one end around 4 or 5 concrete breeze blocks, tie the other end securely around your neck and jump in the pool. When the air bubbles stop rising to the surface the water will be clean.
