Post by BUSHWHACKER » Sat Apr 28, 2018 5:30 am

Where can potable water be tested to insure that it really is potable?

Hi Bushwhacker
Based upon experiences in Hong Kong running an aircraft battery servicing shop, we would seek the services of the local bottled water company lab who would offer such a service, all be it with an analysis report that needed a bachelor degree to interpret, and of course it all came at a cost. In seeking such tests and the resultant reports that are offered, if you don't have your own set of defined comparison standard to apply, possibly WHO data should be used.
Going along the same track as the advice you got on the fire extinguisher refill/recharging question, possibly a local (Cha Am/Hua Hin) water bottling plant, or a Government Lab (is there are such beasts in these locations) might be able to help you. It might also be possible these days to do such tests using a kit offered by an internet supplier, much like those used for swimming pools.

Could test it yourself. DIY kits on ebay are about 1100 baht.

Seems to be 'the' test kit to use:

The Pollution Control Department is a good starting point, they're in charge of water quality matters.

Some accredited labs also offer water analysis service, like http://www.centrallabthai.com/index.php ... s/branches

The Thai water standards are shown here:

'Physical' parameters (colour/turbidity/pH/odour) and TH can be simply observed or measured by yourself but IMO the rest should be done by certified/equipped labs.
