We have just bought a holiday home in Hua Hin and require to purchase some sunloungers. Can anyone tell me where to purchase reasonably priced good quality plastic loungers or is teak one's a better option?

The plastic ones you can buy in many places. However, they have a limited life. I'd recommend 'Winners' on Petchkasem Road for wooden ones (and even plastic ones if you so wish). Very reasonable prices and will deliver the same day.

Amazing but true. The normal pool side or restaurant molded plastic chairs at hotels or elsewhere.

When you sit in them look down left and right at the plastic joint where the arm rests meet the two front legs and the seat itself. If you see a hairline crack, don't sit in them.

I myself have been in one that collapsed and I smashed the back of my head badly on a flower planter. A friend had the same experience but worse, a shattered plastic piece went right through his side and missed his kidney by 1/2 " as the chair burst under him.

The older and longer the chair has been in the sun/sea air, the more chance of this happening. Pete

Depends if your a gambling man, and over the 75 kilo limit I think they design them for. I would say "consumer test" them, but naaaaaa, not in this part of the world. The consumer advocate people in the USA, UK, EU would be on these things likes pigs on s%^t, but not sitting, banning from import. I hope they do. Pete

Canvas & wood deck chairs are my downfall (literally). The number of them that have collapsed under me! Luckily it's usually a soft (if embarrassing) landing onto sand.

And, no, I'm not over (or near!) the 75kg weight limit! Maybe deck chairs have a lower limit?

Never heard so much dribble in my entire life .....better stay inside today...the Moon might fall on your head....with a bit of luck it will be a plastic moon with a crack in it and you will survive ...is life that hard for you that plastic chairs are a worry ?....or a concern.....you need a life outside HHAD..or maybe you don't....

You must have been doing something that you shouldn't in those broken chairs. As you know, I'm just over that 75kg threshold (2x), and I've never had one collapse on me yet - I do, however, treat them with the respect they deserve (and keep very still once I'm in them).

BTW, BB, Just remembered why all those chairs have collapsed - in every case the lower wooden bar holding the canvas has been removed, so there's nothing holding it. At first glance everything seems OK - until you fall through the seat!

We bought the 2 heavy wood ones and to be honest the are a bit of a pain, really heavy to move and have to be stored in lounge when we leave. We then saw some a friend had purchased from big kiang, 600baht they are made of metal frame and terry toweling, they fold up and fit under our bed, much better and much more comfy.

If you want a really nice heavy, wood (not sure if teak) .. take a drive over past DonSingkorn Immigration and just before the Burmese border. Lots of shops .. very large one on the left had lots of nice furniture
