I've just put the same dates into Last Minute, and they were offering £420 with Kingfisher.

All interesting info - thanks guys! My problem was wanting to fly as per usual from Humberside airport which is a skip and a jump down the road. It seems their airport tax alone is now £339 each. A big ouch and no-no.
So it's now Manchester at whatever prices from there. I'm afraid that train fares for 2 and possible hotel one night for EefRow or Gatport Airwick departures usually negate any savings made by flying from Down South for me! UK Rail fare savings can only be made by booking in advance online with specific dates and I don't want to be tied to a return.

There's no reason that you couldn't book from Thailand when your return date is known.

A mate is traveling over from the UK to meet with us sometime over the Christmas and New Year period whilst we're in HH. He's looking at a 3 week ísh break, but at the mo cannot find any flights under the 850 quid mark..... the majority nearer 1K.

Not much chance of the airlines getting into the festive mood then...... :butt:

Hi again Baabaa, soz for the late reply. Have been working away all weekend in wonderful Newcastle.
Anyway i more often than not fly qatar out of heathrow although a couple of years ago i did fly with Jet airways via Mumbai(its a total dump of an airport). I mainly choose qatar due to the good connection times. Roughly one hour, enough time to go and have a smoke and then que up for the next flight. I did things a bit diffefent last year and went for all of november. I paid £404 all in with gulf air via Bahrain. All i normally do is go through all the cheap flight websites punching in a variety of dates and phone a load of them up too. Always tell them i'm flexible on dates(i'm lucky. I can go pretty well whenever i want) and i usually get a red eye flight. If you don't do all of this already,i hope it helps.

Panic over I've got 2 options for end of this month and will be sorting it Monday.
BTW thanks for reminding me about rail bookings online BB - hopefully now won't need that. Everything is crossed! :rasta:

Well, I made it to Hua Hin just as planned. The ease of navigating from Swampy in Bangkok to HH goes to HHAD and its members for all the helpful advice. I took the new City Rail Link train (15 baht) to Bangkok city centre and then the minibus from Victory Monument (180 baht). Very easy and relaxing journey. Looking forward to exploring HH now, and I hope to meet up with any members (locals or others in town like me) for a beer.

Well, it's fixed! :D

Have an inspection on site in Lampang from the 27th-30th, so am heading down to HH on the 24th for the weekend and possibly the following weekend as well before heading home to China....

Anyone up for a beer or 2 on the Saturday night (25th)? Would be good to put a face to a name....

I'm hoping to be posting separately soon for a HHAD meet up last week in October as well. Just waiting for confirmation of venue.

After 10 years or so going back and forward to the eastern seaboard, I think its time to visit this side. I am told one loves it or hates it. Looking forward anyway.
