Book Swap

Post by huahinjim »

Hi All,

Long time since we had a swap but with so many refugees in town getting in & parking has been/ still is a nightmare. Hopefully things will ease in the next few weeks so I am thinking of a swap at 3pm on Saturday 10 December 2011. Usual venue at Dick's Office on Soi 80.

Just bring as many or as few books as you wish! Or even just pop in to say hi and have a drink (or 2 or ....)

Any interest?

Cheers

Jim

102 views. No interest. I am cancelling the swap. If anyone wants to arrange future swaps then please do so.

Thanks to all those who have supported in the past.

Thanks also to Dick & staff of Dick's Office (now 'Hua Hin Miss You Bar') for your hospitality. Good Luck Dick in your retirement!!

Cheers

HHJ - Regarding the 102 views, I am guessing many people like me see the title and read the thread only to find out I/we are not in HH on the chosen date so cannot attend. From February I am permanently in HH so would be able to attend future meets as I will have a lot of spare time so intend reading a lot !

Another reason for less attendees could be people are downloading books to read on their Kindle/book reader thingymajigg rather than buying 'proper' books which is something I am looking into also.

I believe many books can be had for free on t'internet and a guy I deal with in the UK sells batches of them, his latest offer is over 4,500 ebooks for £25.................and I guess he has downloaded them all for free. :thumb:

Anyway, well done for your efforts Jim even though I was never able to attend so far................

Thanks Pagey.

Usually there are many views to most topics with a small proportion of those viewers actually posting a reply. As has happened on the Book Swap posts previously. Some who have attended in the past did not post to say so but often there are a few positive replies that make it worthwhile especially in getting the bar to have staff arrive a few hours earlier than normal.

If tere are no positive replies then I am not putting the bar owner to the trouble of getting staff in early and paying them if there is no likelhood of any custom for the bar.

Fully agree re the e-books etc but there are still a lot of us who haven't progressed that far and some who have and still like to read paper/hard backs.

If you want to swap a few 'real' books when you are here let me know. Hope your move is successful.

Cheers
