In the US shopping malls are where teens meet other than school.

Go to Bluport and walk around. Tons of foreigners there. Just need to approach them and not be shy.

Same goes with Market Village.

Have you tried chatting to people sitting next to you at the beach, in coffee sops, restaurants. Most people are pretty friendly but it's not always easy. If you like a beer you will always find someone to chat with in a bar or hotel.

As for your kids wanting to live here that's is totally another issue, what will they do here, how will they get employment. There are not that many 17/18 year old westerners here.

Not to mention the question of why they want to live here when they're already bored just visiting??

Bored because of feeling alone is not the same as being bored with Hua Hin. Give them a break and positive comments.

Many, many times forum members have told people thinking of moving here to come for a holiday trip first. BUT they are not talking about just a couple of weeks.
Lonely bored teenager moving to Thai-- OMG the warning bells are deafening.

The OP hasn't replied to any posts yet. I have a feeling she means live in Thailand, but not necessarily Hua Hin, hence her moving around and mentioning she is stopping at HH enroute from BKK to Phuket. Maybe window shopping for a good location? I agree HH would be a strange choice for western teenagers.

They've been 6 weeks in Thailand already. Enough time to get a small feel of the lifestyle, BUT she seriously needs to talk to a lot of expats, which she hasn't been able to do yet (through her own reticence, it seems). If she is prepared to contribute to this thread then I could offer mine and my wife's time too.

Also maybe she and her kids are already expat and know the ropes a bit. Wife and I moved from Dubai to HH on the strength of a couple of short holidays in Bali (yes, I know, but we're not hard people to please and get on with life). We already knew we could cope with the day to day expat existence, and also would love the slightly downbeat slow-clock feel of HH. I'm retired, and I can't remember the last time wifey picked up a pen other than to write a shopping list or list of jobs for me. :)

My son, who was slightly older at 21, had a similar problem, but you meet one, and that leads to another, etc. Youngsters are out there, just not as prevalent as other areas.

It was exactly the same when my wife moved to England in June 1990. She didn't meet another Thai until Christmas. As soon as you meet one, the other just keep coming.
