A private social media page would lose so much of the flavour of HHF; I really have no doubt about that, so it's a hard no from me. Even allowing non-members to see it but not post will lessen the page's attraction.

Also I think a no to an annual sub because IMO it will drive many people away, although I'm sure the core posters would pay. The group is valuable free resource for many who rely on it, but also because there are also many who post only occasionally but still contribute to the general churn; they may think twice about annual subscription.

The drive for donations two years ago was well supported I think, and kept HHF running until now; presumably a smaller site won't need the same amount of funds for the next two years (after migration costs)? Either way I'd be happy to contribute again.

Yes, to echo above, if enough of us are willing to contribute to what we already have, as before, then I am happy to do so again.

I too do not want anything to do with FalseBook, FarceBook or whatever those who hate it want to call it. I would happily contribute toward a community forum in this current guise if it is possible to maintain it. If not, I would like to thank all those involved over the last 17 years of my membership for their obvious hard work. I wish the ads and mods luck in coming up with a suitable site we would all enjoy and find useful.

The suggestion that continuance using a subscription model is possible needs to be looked at with a degree of scepticism.

I looked back at the donor list for the previous fundraising and there were 17 donors listed. Several were anonymous and several were from members whose names I have rarely seen or noted as taking part in discussions. I am a frequent lurker rather than a frequent poster so no criticism to those generous members.

In addition, the vote is currently showing 19 votes.

Is this close to the number of daily users? I don’t know, but this level of membership, in my opinion makes a subscription model unsustainable in the long term as current contributors drift away due to old age etc.

Many people are not Facebook fans, me included, but it is currently the main communication method throughout the world. However Lev appears to have a plan not involving Facebook so hopefully it will work out and this forum will continue and will grow.
