HHAD membership requested changes
HHAD membership requested changes
This thread will be used to update you on some of the suggestions for changes to forum operation made in this thread.
We have taken many into consideration and will be taking action to alter a number of forum policies and functions in order to improve the general experience for you, the membership.
Here is what we have decided upon so far:
1) Linking Policy
We accept links to any websites except the following:
1) Rivals and competitors (these include other Hua Hin websites and forums).
2) Commercial Hua Hin real estate and property websites (unless it is for a genuine information enquiry).
3) Publications that slander us or allow anonymous users to do so.
4) Defamation of royalty, pornographic material, drugs and general websites that violate the laws of Thailand.
All links are still subject to moderator discretion. Newly registered users with less than ten posts are not able to post links (this has been implemented to prevent spam).
2) New protocols on warnings/suspensions/bannings
A new protocol will be setup to inform the readership of the process that leads to account suspension or termination. This will allow everyone to see how and why we take action against members that break the forum rules on multiple occasions, we will also provide reasoning for our actions.
3) Nightcrawlers
This section will remain hidden from the public (guests) but be automatically accessible after 10 regular posts have been made. Newly registered users (under ten posts) will also not be able to see the forum. This will prevent the board flooding that we often see.
4) Post editing
Post editing time has been extended to 60 minutes and will remain so providing the system does not get abused.
5) Real estate discussion
This is still under consideration as we are looking for ways to open it up without exposing the forum and its moderators.
There are several other issues under discussion and we will update this thread as and when we come to our conclusions.

Re: HHAD membership requested changes
When I view a member profile it would be useful to list all their posts and topics created, rather than be limited to a search.
Re: HHAD membership requested changes
I'm very pleased to see the mods taking this initiative and in particular I welcome any changes that allow members freedom to more generally address problems being experienced in the property market.
Re: HHAD membership requested changes
Some members can now read the night forum without asking for it, it's very special

Thanks Mods, and again, Thanks for all your hard work!!
The proper function of man is to live, not to exist. I shall not waste my days in trying to prolong them. I shall use my time.
Re: HHAD membership requested changes
This thread is really for operation and forum policy changes to allow more freedom with discussion and content, and better information flow from us to you regarding our actions, we'll get to software modifications shortly.MrPlum wrote:When I view a member profile it would be useful to list all their posts and topics created, rather than be limited to a search.

Re: HHAD membership requested changes
I was quite happy to have escaped the sad clutches of the NC section for over 5 years. Was I the longest...?
Now it appears that I can (if I so desire) gaze within Beelzebubs dark and moist sack. I worry that I will be corrupted by words and deeds that to date I have only seen in publications like Hare and hound, Cosmopolitan and National Geographic.
I will have to steel myself to stay away and try to maintain sense of normality, but alas I fear weakness will descend upon me like a squirrels coat. I will find the draw too great the need to walk in the gutter too strong for my tempered soul.
This is my ground zero...

R: Are you the script writer for 'Brass'?
I daren't even have a peek - probably put me off my supper...then again, I may get some new ideas
You've done a stirling job Mods. Can't be easy controlling and satisfying the motley crew of posters.

Re: HHAD membership requested changes
Our discussions have continued, with the following decisions:
Returning to article 2.
2) New protocols on warnings/suspensions/bannings
Our terms and conditions have been updated to include the following protocols:
REPRIMANDS
The following protocols will be carried out towards members that violate these terms and conditions or exhibit repetitive tendencies towards misconduct on the public boards:
1) A friendly reminder will be sent by private message.
2) A public warning will be issued.
3) A final warning will be issued with rank change to indicate status.
4) Account will be suspended for a period of time defined by the moderators.
5) Account will be permanently banned.
The membership will be given a reason if we need to initiate actions 4 or 5, depending on the severity of the content we may jump to the final steps. We do not wish to suspend or ban any member so please endeavour to adhere to the forum rules.
6) Locking threads
A new protocol will be setup for thread locking, it will provide all of the major reasons that result in a lock, we do not wish to lock any threads but are often forced to out of necessity.
7) Sub sections for specialist discussion
It was decided that the specialist discussions in the health, sports and current affairs sections will remain unchanged. We have many knowledgeable members who enjoy passing on information from time to time, those who are not interested can simply avoid reading those sections.
8 ) Advertorials and sponsors
Advertorials will remain unchanged, they are clearly labelled as advertisements so again, readers have the choice to view them or ignore them (we only have 5). Sand-boxing them into their own section will remove the benefit the advertiser gets from being in the relevant section for their business or product.
9) Anonymity
This is still being discussed and has yet to be decided upon however we may ask members to provide proof of identity should they wish to post comments that could be considered defamatory and may possibly be used in a court of law at a later date.

Re: HHAD membership requested changes
Sorry to sound stupid but what does that mean exactly?3) A final warning will be issued with rank change to indicate status....
Posts reduced as a sort of fine?
Reduced to Newbie again with 20 posts?
Could be funny/humiliating.

Re: HHAD membership requested changes
The rank is the icon displaying the chilies, no posts are deducted but it will be changed to indicate final warning status just as those are changed for suspended members. We are offering enough chances and hope this will be a deterrent for repeat offenders - as stated we do not enjoy banning anyone.
