Sorry Spitfire, I can't agree with this one (I'd like to :()

I don't hide behind an avatar so I have to be careful sometimes with what I say. Unfortunately freedom of speech is not a given right in Thailand and I have lost count of the number of times that I have spent composing some diatribe and then asking myself the two golden rules of Terry's posts:
1) By posting this - will it harm my family in any way
2) By posting this will it harm my business in any way.
If there is a remote chance of a yes in there somewhere - I delete.
I suppose though that that's because you have business interests and are a local public figure which obviously wishes to remain uncontroversial in order to make money. I do use a pseudonym and am a long way away with not much chance of being accurately geolocated (with research could probably come up with the city) as don't use a fixed line, virtually zilch chance actually, just a visitor to HH sometimes as I like the city a lot.

So long as I stay within T&Cs, which are pretty forgiving in general, then I can say what I want and only have to answer to the admin of the forum.

However, I was only semi correct with what I posted last night as I was full of vodka at that time, perhaps a little loose.

I think the forum is great and has proved very useful to me over the years for information and I have met a few people after PM contact that I would not otherwise have met. I hope I have given something back that has helped others. I enjoy the odd banter as well even if I am not joining in. I have looked at other forums where it seems to be a constant moan and slagging off of the country and the people and not a lot else. This one is well balanced IMHO.

Have a great weekend

As a relative newcomer to this forum, although i've lived in HH for the past 4years (in between work). All forums have their peaks and troughs in posting and its usually the core posters that keep it going in the lows.
Usually, i'm a peripheral poster, read many items and post now and again - one thing that pushes me away from posting at times is getting into arguments with others for no reason. I come to the forums for enjoyment not to pick literary fights.

A while ago, before the last few forum upgrades (maybe a year), the quick reply box had more controls, like the ability to use the "Quote" feature and "URL" or "Img" feature and smilies without going to the full editor. The only time then that I had to go to the full editor was when I wanted to upload a photo or attachment (and with the previous "upload photo" that showed I'm not even sure I needed to then.

That was much easier and now I find myself always typing in the quick reply box and then finding it necessary to go to the full edit screen when I want to quote someone or attach a url or smiley.

It's an extra step and extra refresh that maybe isn't any big deal to most folks but with a Pentium III 866 mhz machine it is.

Maybe it's a function of the forum engine that is set in stone or maybe it can be made to work like it used to but nobody but me cares.

If it's easy to revert to that, I would love it. Otherwise, I'll stick to the extra click and screen refresh which takes what seems like an eternity on my elderly machine.

My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?
