Bogus new members, 'bots' and things...

Post by dtaai-maai »

There seem to be a few instances at the moment of some 'bots' getting through the membership screening: annadolf (and previous incarnation) at least, and I'm betting webs.works is one too (apologies if I'm wrong, of course! :D ). Why? What's in it for someone?
This is the way

Trolls/Spammers and general fools are abound everywhere....as you know.

Must be like the Alamo on HQ's PCs sometimes.........

Sometimes though, the ones that do get through really do conjure up some strange images of what they must be like.

I always find it funny when you get someone on the newest member section who's called H8888J2!!etV...... :?

The ones that get through the registration system are human, they'll waste the time posting ten stupid comments then slip in a link to some spammy website that the mods delete instantly.

It is a completely futile process yet still they come.

The ones that have names composed of random letters are usually bots that can get around the registration form but cannot post due to our link blocking security features.
