Re: Buying online from Lazada

Wanted to share this here because Lazada is not the only fruit.

Looking for some photography accessories on there and did a Google search for the product which threw up another Thai online outlet: https://www.jd.co.th/

JD is a huge Chinese online retailer that is also available in Thailand.

Anyway long story short, I found what I wanted on there for 28% less than the cheapest identical item on Lazada so it pays to shop around.

JD also offer free shipping which you can no longer get on Laz so happy days.

Edit: just seen JD Central already mentioned in this thread, it works and can be a fair whack cheaper!

Most of the stuff we get from Lazada comes with free delivery or are you talking of shipping from outside of Thailand? I buy occasionally, but as far as the rest of my family go, there are at least 2 or 3 deliveries per week. All are COD as well as free delivery.

Both, I've been charged for shipping for the last six items I've ordered, 4 of them were domestic, 2 from China.

Just looked at my last few orders. There was a delivery charge but was credited on the invoice. i.e. initially charged but then negated from the total. Not sure why!

I've noticed they've been charging recently. If lucky, some have discounted the delivery charge, but I've not found any free delivery for a couple of weeks.

Any idea what has happened to the shipping charges? Even the ones that say 'free shipping' now have a shipping charge added when you go to order.

Just tried it with five different things to test and they all wanted to charge a flat 53 baht for shipping no matter whether it was a pack of chili seeds costing 40 baht or a power drill!

We get regular deliveries from Lazada and on checking, there has been no shipping charges. There is a shipping charge on the invoice but is credited in the total.

I can’t remember buying anything that didn’t have a shipping charge as an extra?

There must be something wrong with my account then as it is applied to absolutely everything I try to order on Laz. Here is an example ...

45% extra for shipping ... :banghead: :guns: :cuss:

Just looked at your guitar strings and it now states 45 baht! It does point out that it's free when you spend more.

Looked at several other random products many that are marked 'free' indeed show normal delivery - free and there are others that have the green 'free' but on total cost there's a price restriction on free.
I couldn't find any that state 'free' that were not free on the total cost although some with a minimum spend.

'Free' on the product just indicates there is an option for free delivery. I had to look at the last few invoices as you'd made me doubt my own eyes. The ones that had delivery credited in the total had multiple items on the order.

I do surprise myself what I'll do when I'm bored!!!!

For me too this has been happening on almost every Lazada order for a long time. Do some people shop and spend their money without checking their sums and receipts? Not only the free shipping promotions but also the standard shipping fee shown on product page often gets changed at check-out. Somtimes, immediately after I buy, the product page price becomes updated. As if my purchase triggers that. It is small so i pay and say nothing. But it happens too many times so about 3 months ago i chatted to customer service – their reply = “Delivery charges are set by the seller” my rebuttal = “But we are not talking about the delivery price - we are talking about the delivery cost on the check-out page does not reflect the delivery price shown in the product description page”

Several more Lazada orders = same problem. Then order on 1st April = not only was the free shipping promotion ignored but the normal delivery fee shown as ฿53 got a rejig at checkout to become ฿64. Not eager to be April Fooled so chatted seller = he confirmed “Buy products 399 ฿ No shipping cost, please try again”

No cigar — so, as customer service chat asks for an order number I completed the order = moved it from “Cart” to “Pay Now” and “Check Out” to get an order # then immediately cancelled the order.

My opening chat note to customer service listed all facts including order number, that my delivery address was shown correctly on product page, that I had confirmed with seller the delivery is free, etc. They obviously did not read it because every question they asked me had already been been covered on my opening message.

Their solution for me = “Please be advise that free shipping promotion with minimum spend ฿399.00 is only availabnle in certain area. Please contact the seller directly and confirm if your shipping address is applicable for the free shipping fee” Then the chat page was immediately closed without the 30 seconds time frame for a reply from me. And without addressing the fact that even the standard delivery fee was morphed at check-out.

It appears that ‘Customer Service’ is a PR department, not a solution department. But when you do one of these chats you will gat an email with a satisfaction survey and space for a comment. Hopefully it has more relevance than the Customer Service chats.

I thanked them for their concern, briefly restated some of my chat message and finished with, “I believe your website engineers need to know about these shipping fee problems. I realize shipping costs are going up but product page and checkout page need to be same same… It is important because accuracy and validity are painted with the same brush

Anyway, this is usually a small matter but its frequency is aggravating. Hopefully more people will bring this up with them. Check JD Central first = no delivery fees and often is cheaper. Sjoppee = often cheaper, small or zero delivery fees but serious language barrier and serious problems about returns if wrong or damaged product is sent. Ali Express = very accurate highly descriptive web site but longer shipping times.

There are some good reasons to shop at Lazada but as they become more complete in cornering the market they will also become less sensitive to your concerns. Keep Hua Hin businesses alive by also shopping locally. 2 weeks ago we wanted a back pack sprayer. 2 exactly identical ones at Lazada were ฿1124 and ฿697 +delivery +”Ships From Overseas”. We checked Home Pro and bought exact same model for ฿620 and able to see what we were getting. Ditto for a low end Canon printer we recently bought at Power Buy.

:agree: I've seen that poster plastered all over Facebook, and wondered if the people sharing it really knew or had thought about what they were asking for.
