Post by JamesWest »

I am having problems loading this forum, TV, and some other Thai based forums.

This started about three days ago.

Anyone having the same problems?

Other site are working ok, or just slightly slower.

some chatter on other forums about this but i can't get in as pages take forever to load.

Very slow on TOT for me over here in Rayong as well. Everything loads but the speed and quality is not right at all. I have the same problem with other sites as well these past days.

I think somewhere in our other thread an article indicates that TOT and CAT were going to test this single gateway idea. They could well be doing it now. Pete

As an FYI, it's 0345 now and you would think things would be fast. The forum and Facebook are not. My harmless (foreign based) Yahoo home page and Yahoo webmail are as speedy as ever, as are local Thai sites like the weather office. However, articles from various news sources within my Yahoo homepage are just as slow as the forum and Facebook. Some picking and choosing going on perhaps? Perhaps a speedy conclusion but I'm suspicious as to cause. Pete

OK, I've turned off my TOT (wireless in house and copper wire outside), and turned on my TRUE 3G dongle thing that works just like a cell phone to their towers and then beyond. Much faster across the board. I would say 2-3 times faster at this moment at 0408 hours for the forum, Facebook and news articles within my homepage. Pete

I don't know if it's related but apparently the authorities started censoring the internet from Saturday to stop people broadcasting footage of the red shirt protest outside the UN in New York.

TOT has been a ball of shit for all websites for me for the past 3-4 days. Has all the hallmarks of text based filtering and censoring as TV streaming, and FTP downloads work at full speed.

Bricks going on the Great Firewall I believe.

If they go ahead with this it will end up being a North Korean style intranet with only junta approved websites being accessible at any speed, all others will be painfully slow if you can get them at all.

Game over internet for Thailand.

I'm having no problems on 3BB soi 112. Everything at full speed. A speed test showed 11mbps which is just over what I pay for.

TOT has been what I can only describe as "off" for the past 4 hours.

Tried my mates 3BB connection which was slow but working.

Agree with James West,
Things have gone considerably slower in the last 4 - 5 days regardless of the time of day or night.
No idea why as normally great here on soi 104 with D-Tac. Maybe things are being slowed and highly monitored :guns:

I will repeat what I've already said. It's 11:40 and every access is fine. Speed test still showing in excess of 10 mps. This is from 3BB so it must be a problem with your ISP.

I don't know if their gateway testing is over, in a pause mode, or didn't happen at all, :? :? :? but my TOT internet has been back to normal speeds since 0330 this morning here in Rayong. First time in 4 days it's normal. Pete

My TOT international routing was down from ???o clock yesterday until about 2pm - from there it was fine. So far so good today - but it's still early so anything can happen...

3BB has been fine throughout so they're obviously not tendering to be the providers of the new gateway... ;)
