TrueVision Satellite TV reception

Post by MajorBloodnok »

Hello, :)

lately, whenever there is strong cloud and rain (with or without thunder/lightning)
our tv monitor goes black for hours with the usual admonition text, telling you to check, disattach &
re-attach links with the 'modem'. :cuss:

This Soi 94. Do you have similar problems?

Kind regards,

MB aka 'Mike the Fritz'

It's common everywhere in the country when rain/clouds roll in. It's never been for hours though, perhaps 1 hour at most during the worst storms over here in the Rayong area. You'll find that the Thai channels are the first to come back (33-35 etc.) So if you set your channel to one of those during an outage you'll see quickly when the system is starting to come alive again. We live about 800 yards from you and Mrs BB rarely suffers the problem. She was, however having problems on one of her boxes a few months back, and reported it. They came the next day, and replaced both boxes - no problem since.

If you also have True Internet, you are entitled to Internet TV, which is free except for a 1,000 Baht installation fee. That will continue working through the bad weather.

It might also be worth checking that your dish has not become misaligned. We've had that after high winds - easily fixed with a hard blow from a broom handle.

^.....and tall bushes/trees that may have grown during this wet season and swish in the breeze in front of the dish sensor. We had that problem as it literally creeps up on you over the months. However, it usually doesn't black out everything like during a storm, only disrupts the picture with multi coloured static type lines. Pete

Whatever - get an engineer out, it's part of the service that you're paying dearly for. Phone numbers are 032 534898 or 032 534899.

That's really screwy that there's different performance within so close of an area. BB's comment to get TRUE out there I think is appropriate. They need to do a direct line of sight or some process to see if there is some kind of blockage by a building, or a cluster of electronics such as power transformers? Strange.....Pete

We were getting problems a few months ago, but sorted within a day of contacting them.

It's being reported, in the UK, that there is only one TV channel being transmitted in Thailand at the moment.
