An interesting statement. A friend of mine has wanted to know how to record TV streamed via his laptop for a few years, but nobody has been able to tell him. Can you or anybody else help him please?

You can get some browser add-ons that download the video content of a webpage. The ones I have found are a bit hit or miss though...

Re: Recording TV Streams
Yes, he's tried many of those already. Fine for something like Facebook or YouTube, but they don't want to know if, for instance he wanted to record Brazil vs Costa Rica from Teatime TV now.

Just so there's no misunderstanding, this statement was purely about the new Teatimetv Windows program where downloading is a built-in function.Big Boy wrote:On the What are the TV service options in Hua Hin thread:An interesting statement. Re: Recording TV Streams
OK, thank you. I'd only looked at the Live TV. I see you can download programmes that have already been aired.
This viewer is so similar to Expat TV, I wonder if the same guys are making a comeback. If so, be very wary about paying too far in advance.

Re: Recording TV Streams
As they will be showing EPL I'm sure they'll be a target as were Expat TV. Unless they have a bona fide licensing agreement, which I think unlikely.
Re: Recording TV Streams
Where are you getting the programme information from please?
I'm sure they've learnt their lesson, and will be based outside of Thailand - hence the .to web address.

Re: Recording TV Streams
Sorry, maybe I'm wrong about the reasons behind the demise of expat TV, but I thought they were affected by the EPL piracy crackdown because they were showing games courtesy of BBC/ITV. Or has free TV in UK lost EPL broadcast rights? In any case the streams must be originating in Europe so the possibility of eventually being blocked is there.

I use a device that goes between my cable connection and my PC. It is a tuner. They have various models.

At the time, the reason given was dues to the servers being located in Thailand.hhinner wrote: ↑Sat Jun 23, 2018 12:17 am Sorry, maybe I'm wrong about the reasons behind the demise of expat TV, but I thought they were affected by the EPL piracy crackdown because they were showing games courtesy of BBC/ITV. Re: Recording TV Streams
I use 4K Video Downloader to record movies and shows etc. from YouTube, but it's not "live capture" as far as I know. Excellent tool though.
Must admit I was interested myself in the "live capture" after seeing your comment and came across this which seems to be ideal.

Have downloaded it and will give it a try later.

Re: Recording TV Streams
I don't think the tuner mentioned above will help record internet streams. It will allow a PC to receive and watch and record television delivered by either cable or antenna.
Re: Recording TV Streams
You refer to this device as a tuner - but is an HD PVR a tuner or is it a Personal Video Recorder or are they the same thing? However, I have watched a few Youtube Videos recently on this subject and at no time did the bloke insert a satellite cable into the PVR-2 and instead used 2 HDMI cables and a USB to connect his computer to his tv to record a computer game. As my tv signal is coming via the internet or Ethernet Cable - is this not the same as the ''cable'' that you were referring to? I have lived here for 5 years and every time I have asked in so-called electrical shops about a device that can record tv I get met with puzzled looks and directed to a large pile of cheap dvd players. Not what I was wanting to see and hear!!! I also found out recently that TrueVision have a device that records tv which will probably belong to them and have to be returned if you change your supplier. So, it begs the question that there must be something out there to record if they are providing the service for their customers so therefore there must be somewhere that has them to sell to ''outside'' customers?? If not, has Thailand any idea when it will step into the 21st Century??
Re: Recording TV Streams
Following on from my above post. I had a conversation recently with a computer expert who told me that HDMI cables have something called an HDCP (High Bandwidth Content Protection) in them that stop people using them to copy stuff. So can you get HDMI leads that do not have this HDCP? I also tried to resolve the recording problem by using a DVD recorder that I brought from the UK and I had hoped to connect it up to record from the tv, but I was using composite leads because it does not have an HDMI connection, but alas I could not get anything coming through to show on the tv. I gave up and use it now to play UK DVD's instead, but have I given up too early on this??
