Mayo Bistro or something like that
Simple but excellent food and large portions. Run by a guy called Andy.
Pea soup, schnitzels, pork chops, German sausages, meatballs and more.
OK when not too many customers otherwise quite a wait

This restaurant is just a stone's throw from the school and we did not know it even existed. Apparently been open for several years but only in the evening. Now open from 09.30 am.
We visited this evening and was duly impressed with the quality and budget prices. My good wife had a long chat with Sue, the chef. Something she rarely would do. A charming lady.

I went to "Maya's Bistro" with a friend tonight and it lived up to what everyone has said above. It's a small place located in a quiet residential neighborhood one block off Soi 80 run by a nice German man (Andy) and his lovely long time Thai wife who speaks fluent German and English. The food prepared by her was excellent (best fried potatoes and onions I've ever had) plus the pork fillets wrapped in bacon and covered with mushroom sauce were delicious and cooked to perfection. It was also served with very tasty green beans as a green vegetable addition. The map link above is perfect as it is one block south of Soi 80 on the corner of the first Soi from the railway street. We will definitely go back.
Opens at 9:30 I think for breakfast; lunch until 1 p.m., with a break until dinner starting at 5 p.m.

My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?
